Your unique mission as a Cloud Security Engineer is to develop security controls for IaaS and SaaS cloud environments.You’ll partner with an innovative and passionate team of engineers to create and implement effective, cost-efficient, and low-friction security solutions using cutting-edge technologies.
This individual will engage in building secure solutions to protect the cloud infrastructure of Credit Karma. In this role you will get a chance to exhibit technical competency in the areas of Cloud, Application, Data security, and Identity and Access Management.This role will be responsible for supporting cross-functional projects/initiatives and will utilize critical thinking and problem-solving to reduce risks and deliver exceptional value to our customers and business outcomes.
What you’ll do:
- Partner with Network, Platform, and Product teams to design Cloud Native Security architectures and frameworks and implement security controls enabled through DevSecOps.
- Design, develop, deploy and maintain cloud native security solutions that will prevent and detect attacks against Credit Karma’s infrastructure
- Bring engineering excellence to automate various manual actions and improve velocity of the team.
- Provide security recommendations on service and infrastructure design.
- Build, enhance and operate software at scale to support Security Business needs using programming languages like Scala, Python or Go
- Build and monitor integrations between security solutions and ensure all solutions are logging relevant data
- Foster and Lead by Example a Shift Left Mindset towards security. Ensure security is incorporated at all stages of the software development lifecycle.
- Share your knowledge on security best practices and provide security consultations to other teams at CK

What we are looking for:
- 3+ years of experience working with Linux, Networking Fundamentals, Cryptography and Infrastructure Security
- 3+ years of experience working with Cloud Security solutions in various layers -- IaaS, PaaS and SaaS
- 3+ years of experience working with cloud native solutions and be able to seamlessly integrate with a CSP (preferred GCP)
- 3+ years of experience scripting (or relevant programming skills) automating repetitive tasks. Python and Golang are preferred
What we would like to see:
- Exposure to container workload deployments as well as related orchestration technologies (ie: Kubernetes) will be a big plus
- Exposure to GCP and related components like GCE, GKE, IAM is a huge plus
- Experience developing and rolling out software at scale to meet security business needs
- Self-starting attitude and fearless ascent up the learning curve. Thrives in a distributed workplace environment
- Eagerness to challenge the status quo, balanced with a reasonable and methodical approach to effecting change
- Great team player and positive attitude
- Working experience on Key & Vault Management services and cloud security solutions will be a plus
- Familiarity with DevOps and CI/CD lifecycle

Pay Transparency Notice: Credit Karma’s mission of championing financial progress for all starts from within. That’s why we implemented role-based compensation, which ensures people who are in the same role receive the same pay with variations for geographic location only. It’s all part of a more comprehensive DEI strategy that helps level the playing field. The base salary range for this role is $151,580 to $193,097, plus equity and benefits.
