Requirements
  • At least 2 years of related law practice experience.
  • At least 2 years of legal editing experience in a substantive law area.
  • Experience and in-depth knowledge of current legal practice and the challenges faced by legal practitioners.
  • Extensive knowledge of the relevant substantive law area.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills with demonstrated command of the English language.
  • Excellent project management skills, including supervision of internal staff and resources and effective management of relations with contributors and co-workers.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organization, self-motivation, initiative, and creativity.
  • Excellent problem-solving and time-management skills.
  • Ability to be flexible and proactive.
  • Proficiency in standard personal computer applications, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, Westlaw, Lexis, and cite-checking programs.
  • Juris Doctor degree and admission to the State Bar of California.
  • State Bar of California membership.
  • Satisfactory background investigation for continued employment.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
Responsibilities
  • Create and update engaging, sophisticated, and practical legal content for Trusts and Estates practitioners.
  • Apply legal practice experience, conduct in-depth legal research and analysis, and write legal content.
  • Independently create content.
  • Recruit and collaborate with attorneys and judges to review and develop content.
  • Write DailyNews articles addressing current legal developments.
  • Collaborate internally in practice-area groups.
Desired Qualifications
  • At least 5 years of related law practice experience.
  • Experience with a large firm or government entity.
  • Experience with needs trusts.
  • Experience with guardianship and elder law.
  • Master of Laws degree in Taxation.
  • California Estate Planning, Trusts and Probate Law Certified Specialist credential.
