Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Graduation from a surgical technology program is required.
  • The ability to function independently in the scrub role and as a circulator under the supervision of a registered professional nurse is required.
Responsibilities
  • Maintain the sterile field.
  • Prepare operating rooms and assist with patient positioning as needed.
  • Inspect sterile items for contamination before opening and maintain sterility while scrubbed, including the sterility of instruments and supplies.
  • Perform accurate instrument, sponge, and needle counts in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Handle the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during surgical procedures.
  • Anticipate the surgeon’s needs during surgical procedures.
  • Ensure that the operating room environment is safe, equipment functions properly, and patient safety is maintained.
Desired Qualifications
  • One to three years of scrubbing experience.
  • Familiarity with all specialty services.
