Requirements
  • At least 12 years of experience in meetings and events, experiential, hospitality, or another complex managed-services environment.
  • Significant experience leading multi-country, multi-layer Event Management organizations.
  • Strong knowledge of venue sourcing, supplier contracting, registration, attendee management, event production, and agency economics.
  • Demonstrated success integrating organizations, modernizing operating models, or leading large-scale transformation.
  • Experience owning operating budgets, gross margin or contribution margin, forecasting, pricing, capacity forecasting, cost-to-serve, and productivity.
  • Experience serving as executive sponsor for complex enterprise clients.
  • Evidence of building high-performing leadership teams and credible succession pipelines.
  • Ability to operate across different European employment, regulatory, supplier, and cultural environments.
  • Experience partnering with Product and Engineering teams to digitize or automate service operations.
Responsibilities
  • Unify Navan and Reed & Mackay teams, capabilities, technology, and operating practices.
  • Establish scalable service, staffing, and delivery models that improve profitability while maintaining client experience.
  • Make investment and resource-allocation decisions based on growth, client value, operating expense, workforce capacity, operational risk, and expected return.
  • Define and implement the target operating model for Event Management across the United Kingdom and Europe.
  • Standardize roles, processes, controls, systems, data, and performance measures while preserving local accountability and market expertise.
  • Hold executive accountability for the quality and commercial performance of managed event programs.
  • Serve as executive sponsor and escalation owner for strategic clients and complex or high-profile programs.
  • Establish standards for delivery quality, supplier management, contracting, budget control, reconciliation, risk management, and service recovery.
  • Own the operational technology strategy for Event Management and partner with Product and Engineering to prioritize platform capabilities, automate workflows, improve client visibility, and drive operational readiness and adoption.
  • Lead a multi-layer, multi-country organization comprising country directors, functional leaders, managers, and event professionals across the United Kingdom and Europe.
  • Build a high-performing team across countries, set expectations, hold leaders accountable for commercial, client, operational, and people outcomes, and create succession and development pathways for critical roles.
  • Surface performance and operational issues early, explain their commercial implications, provide recommendations, and communicate organizational change transparently.
  • Drive meetings and events business growth by partnering with Sales and Customer Success to shape the regional growth plan, qualify opportunities, define service scope and pricing, and ensure new business is operationally ready.
  • Hold teams accountable for delivering contracted commitments and retaining profitable revenue.

Navan launches AI protocol for natural language travel data queries after $220M Q1 revenue beat

Navan launches unified events platform to streamline corporate meeting planning with AI

Navan has launched Navan Events, a unified platform for managing corporate meetings and events, now available in the US, UK and European markets. Navan acquires Brazilian travel firm Smartrips to expand Latin America presence

Navan, the AI-powered travel and expense management platform, has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Smartrips, a leading Brazilian travel management company. The transaction marks Navan's first acquisition as a public company and extends its presence in Latin America. Brazil accounts for approximately 40% of corporate travel spend in Latin America and represents a critical market for global enterprises. Following integration, Navan customers with Brazilian operations will be able to book and manage all travel directly within the Navan platform, eliminating the need for separate booking systems. Founded in 2017, Smartrips will join Navan's portfolio of regional acquisitions, including Comtravo in Germany, Tripeur in India, and Reed & Mackay in the UK. The transaction is expected to close in the second quarter of fiscal year 2027. Financial terms were not disclosed.
