Requirements
  • Must be able to travel up to 80-90% of the time
  • Must possess a current, and valid, US State driving license
  • Must be clearable, and able to pass a federal background investigation (including criminal and credit checks)
  • Experience in cable installation and maintenance including CAT 5, CAT 6, coax, low voltage, data cabling, fiber optic, RG/RJ terminations, server racks, network equipment, access control, audio/visual, and phone systems
  • 2+ years of experience for level 1, 3+ years of experience for level 2
  • Strong technical skills and knowledge of cable and cabling systems
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent customer service skills including written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a variety of environments including heights and confined spaces
  • Knowledge of communications wiring standards and installation practices
  • Knowledge of telecommunications switching and common control systems
  • Ability to read and understand technical manuals, schematic diagrams, and related documentation
  • Must be able to use standard and specialized hand tools, crimpers, screwdrivers, cutters, pliers, and power tools as needed
Responsibilities
  • Determines routing and placement of cabling, wiring, and fiber optics
  • Performs physical installation of equipment and components
  • Responds to trouble reports, performs troubleshooting activities, and repairs/replaces malfunctioning equipment and/or facilities
  • Ensures compliance with building and electrical codes
  • Documents and/or logs equipment/system installation and/or modification actions
  • Assists in planning and implementing departmental telecommunications and/or facility layout changes
  • Installing, maintaining, and repairing cable infrastructure for governmental and/or commercial customers
  • Troubleshoot cable problems and identify and resolve the root cause
  • Provide customer service to resolve cable issues
  • Inspect and test cable systems to ensure proper operation
  • Keep accurate records of work performed
  • Comply with all site and company mandated safety regulations
