Requirements
  • Previous experience working with middle school-aged students is preferred.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must have EIM Training with the Diocese of Austin or be willing to complete it upon hire.
  • Must be able to maintain structure and consistency in a study hall environment.
  • Must have strong communication and classroom management skills.
  • Must demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and professionalism.
  • Must be able to build positive relationships with students while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
  • Must be able to stay calm and composed in a busy after-school environment.
  • Must be able to work independently and take initiative when needed.
  • Must be available weekday afternoons during program hours, generally Monday through Friday from 3:45 to 6:00 PM, with occasional half-days from 12:30 to 6:00 PM.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Must be able to frequently walk, stand, bend, and participate in active play.
  • Must be able to supervise students in environments with noise, activity, and varying weather conditions.
Responsibilities
  • Support and uphold the Catholic identity and mission of St. Michael’s Prep.
  • Serve as a positive role model and reflect the values of St. Michael’s Prep.
  • Supervise middle school students during after-school study hall.
  • Maintain a calm, safe, respectful, and structured environment conducive to studying and independent work.
  • Encourage students to use study hall time productively and remain on task.
  • Provide basic homework support, organization assistance, and encouragement as needed.
  • Monitor student behavior and reinforce school expectations appropriately.
  • Take attendance and manage accurate sign-in and sign-out procedures.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with students and staff.
  • Respond appropriately to student needs, including minor behavioral concerns or injuries.
  • Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism in all responsibilities.
  • Assist with transitions, dismissal, and parent pickup procedures.
