Requirements
  • One year of experience or training in a related function.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required; in some cases, experience may substitute for academic training.
  • A valid driver's license, adequate vehicle insurance when using a personal vehicle, a safe driving record, and successful completion of a driver's screening background check are required. The employee must be at least 21 years old and have held a valid United States driver's license for at least six months.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, climb, lift at least 25 pounds using proper lifting techniques or a two-person lift, operate a computer and office equipment, sit, reach, climb stairs, and maneuver through narrow spaces or hallways.
  • Ability to assist clients with activities of daily living and communicate with clients, staff, and external representatives.
  • Required vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, along with the ability to adjust focus.
  • CPR certification is required within two weeks of hire.
  • First Aid certification is required within two weeks of hire.
  • MAC certification is required in accordance with Connecticut guidelines.
  • Safety Care certification is required within 60 days of hire.
  • Knowledge of empowerment and self-advocacy techniques, applied behavioral analysis with special-ne needs populations, advocacy techniques, communication styles, formal and informal assessment practices, physical personal management skills, independent living management skills, crisis intervention techniques, community resources and job and training opportunities, and documentation requirements.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team.
Responsibilities
  • Assist in implementing individual service plans and recommended plans, emphasizing community employment.
  • Work directly with persons served individually and in groups in workrooms and facilities to develop their skills.
  • Provide coaching and training at community job sites, program job sites, and work crews, including travel training, social-skills training, and vocational-skills training.
  • Travel to various locations as required by the Job Coach role.
  • Monitor on-the-job progress, provide written documentation as needed, and ensure appropriate coverage.
  • Implement prescribed clinical, educational, and vocational or employment programs.
  • Collect and quantify specific data, transfer it to the daily chart, and perform bi-monthly data analysis.
  • Maintain the physical upkeep of the program area and ensure equipment is used, cleaned, and stored appropriately.
  • Advocate for persons served in all areas.
  • Complete ongoing training in applied behavioral analysis, teaching techniques, and job coaching.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
