Requirements
  • Two years of full-time experience as a paramedic or experience as a registered nurse in an acute care setting.
  • A Tennessee Paramedic license or a valid, unrestricted license in any Compact Member state is required and must be maintained.
  • A Critical Care Paramedic certification or Tennessee Community Paramedic Certification is required and must be maintained.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support and Basic Life Support certifications are required.
  • A valid driver's license and state-mandated minimum insurance coverage are required.
  • The driving record must meet Covenant Health minimum standards at the date of hire and throughout employment.
Responsibilities
  • Provide emergency care for acute illness or injury, including medical emergencies, traumatic injury, behavioral health emergencies, and care of chronic comorbid conditions.
  • Administer the full scope of medications and medical interventions approved by the EMS Medical Director.
  • Use EMS telecommunications to coordinate and exchange information with dispatchers, medical facilities, online medical control, and other system users, following applicable rules, regulations, and procedures.
  • Report essential patient information, medical condition, and treatment to medical personnel assuming continuing care.
  • Complete Patient Care Reports and other documentation accurately and on time according to company policy.
  • Clean and maintain vehicles and facilities daily, complete vehicle maintenance checks, clean and restock assigned vehicles after each call, and refuel vehicles as required.
  • Facilitate scheduling needs, equipment and supply maintenance, and other daily operational support functions as assigned by the EMS Manager and EMS Director.
  • Maintain daily narcotic logs and complete vehicle checks for onboard supplies and equipment.
  • Support other programs and divisions within the Covenant EMS System as able.
  • Remain current on regulatory, clinical, non-clinical, and continuing medical education training, upload certifications to the appropriate systems, and coordinate training plans with the EMS Manager or EMS Medical Director.
  • Complete mandatory Covenant Health and EMS in-service training and additional independent training needed to meet Tennessee continuing education requirements.
  • Prepare reports and manage projects assigned by the EMS Manager.
  • Coordinate with the EMS Manager, EMS Director, and Covenant Health Information Technology team to manage computer maintenance and team member systems account setup.
  • Comply with local, state, and federal employment laws.
  • Travel locally as required.
  • Follow policies, procedures, and safety standards; complete annual education assignments; work toward goals and objectives; and participate in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
  • Perform other assigned duties.
