Requirements
  • Associate’s Degree or the ability to receive an Associate’s degree within three years or combination of education, training, and equivalent experience demonstrating sufficient expertise. (Madison College offers tuition reimbursement.)
  • Four (4) years or 8,000 hours of related work experience.
  • Licensed as a Cosmetologist or barber in the state of Wisconsin, or ability to attain by date of hire.
  • Required instructor certification through the State of Wisconsin (or obtain within one year of employment).
  • Experience with or willingness to learn different modes of instruction (online, hybrid, Classroom Live, and modes of the future).
Responsibilities
  • Responsible for instruction in the Cosmetology program including but not limited to the following courses: Cosmetology Theory 1 – 5, Cosmetology Techniques 1 – 3, Cosmetology Sales & Advertising 1 & 2, and Cosmetology Apprenticeship courses, as needed.
  • Develop and plan appropriate instructional strategies and alternative delivery strategies when appropriate including but not limited to hybrid, face-to-face and on-line course delivery.
  • Participate in in-service meetings, staff development training or other activities or programs requested by the Department.
  • Assist and advise students who have problems with assignments, tests, grades, course content, career concerns, and other academic matters.
  • Comply with college policies and directions regarding student testing, record keeping, advanced standing, providing grades on a timely basis, evaluating student performance and maintaining office hours for student assistance and counseling, etc.
  • Maintain competencies as an instructor as aligned with the Faculty Quality Assurance System.
  • Assist students in developing work experience assignments such as internships, work study assignments, team projects, etc.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the college’s mission, vision and values.
