Requirements
  • A minimum of an associate degree
  • At least 3 years of professional experience with payroll systems
  • Highly proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Familiarity and comprehension of federal, state, and local wage and hour laws, particularly California wage regulations
  • Excellent organizational skills, time management, communication skills, and attention to detail
  • Strong work ethic and the capability to handle confidential and sensitive matters
  • Self-directed and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Experience with timekeeping systems and their integration with accounting software
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
Responsibilities
  • Process and validate payroll accurately and punctually, ensuring reconciliation before finalizing reports
  • Serve as the central contact for all payroll-related inquiries, processes, activities, and updates. Address and resolve discrepancies in payroll and timesheet inquiries
  • Collaborate with department management on payroll matters, including missed work hours, time punch issues, late submissions, and pay discrepancies
  • Oversee the timekeeping system, reviewing timesheets for compliance with timekeeping regulations, including monitoring PTO accruals, usage, and balances as well as overtime and lunch break violations
  • Process and verify special pay and deductions such as overtime, stipends, commissions, bonuses, benefits, garnishments, 401k contributions, direct deposits, paid and unpaid leave, etc
  • Assist the finance team with reviewing employee travel expense reports
  • Collaborate closely with the HR Department to ensure timely benefits enrollment, accurate payroll deductions, and to process termination and severance checks
  • Maintain payroll operations in adherence to company policies, including distributing W-2 and K-1 forms
  • Stay updated on relevant rules and regulations governing payroll administration
