Job Description Summary
At MUSC, our Patient Access Representatives do a variety of tasks in the clinics. The Patient Access Representatives work at the front desk, greeting patients, checking them in for their appointments which include insurance verification and copay collection. Patient Access Representatives are also responsible for scheduling patients for their follow up appointments. Patient Access Representatives are generally the first and last person that a patient sees so we are looking for energetic and welcoming care team members. The clinics, that we serve, are very diverse in that some are primary care clinics, specialty clinics for both pediatrics and adults, and pediatric primary care. The position is a Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm.
The Outpatient Float Team is the float pool for the ambulatory clinics in Charleston and the surrounding areas. Our care team members are required to float to clinics that have placed needs for help in their clinics.

Job Description
Processes patient preadmission and admission demographic and insurance data; enters information in the hospital computer system; maintains quality control for each preadmission and admission to insure accuracy of information; acts as liaison between patients, financial counselors and hospital patient accounting; insures that all state, federal and MUSC policies and procedures are followed. Functions in the Patient Admissions Department.
Additional Job Description
High school diploma or equivalent (GED), with 1 year of customer service experience. Ability to interpret and apply financial procedures and regulations preferred. Previous experience with hospital information systems or word processing preferred.
