Requirements
  • Ability to coordinate dining reservations and activities for waitstaff while providing fast and courteous service to patrons.
  • Ability to maintain a friendly, personable, informative, and professional demeanor when interacting with guests.
  • Certification by the Vermont Department of Liquor Control is required to take drink orders, when necessary.
  • Ability to accurately handle guest inquiries, reservations, availability, restaurant hours, services, menu items, allergy policies, wait times, and take-to-go orders.
Responsibilities
  • Schedule dining reservations and arrange parties or special events for dinner.
  • Welcome guests and escort them to tables with menus.
  • Answer phone calls and provide basic information about reservations, availability, restaurant hours, and services.
  • Track the waitlist and open tables and accurately quote wait times to guests.
  • Assign tables based on party size and server availability and seat guests promptly.
  • Answer guest inquiries about the menu and recommend items while following allergy policies.
  • Take drink orders when necessary.
  • Prepare unoccupied tables by wiping surfaces, removing debris, and ensuring seats and floors are clean; assist with resetting tables.
  • Assist with waitstaff side work and opening and closing duties.
  • Keep the podium neat and orderly.
  • Take and accurately record to-go orders, enter orders into the point-of-sale system, pack prepared take-out orders, deliver them to guests, and help take food to guest tables.
  • Report guest complaints to a supervisor or manager immediately.
