Requirements
  • A Bachelor's or Associate's degree is required.
  • Successful completion of a clinical laboratory training internship is required.
  • Maintain a current Alabama license as a Medical Technologist/Laboratory Scientist in the specialty or specialties required by the assigned laboratory section.
  • No prior experience is required.
Responsibilities
  • Verify routine results and quality control data for accuracy and reliability using prescribed guidelines.
  • Perform, evaluate, and document quality control, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Demonstrate computer system proficiency, including ordering, resulting, and inquiry functions.
  • Ensure proper utilization and preparation of reagents and supplies.
  • Communicate critical results to the patient's caregiver.
  • Report unusual findings to the immediate supervisor.
  • Report work activities and pending work to the oncoming technologist.
  • Respond to work-related technical inquiries as needed.
  • Maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with applicable policies and standards.
  • Maintain compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
Desired Qualifications
  • National certification such as American Society of Clinical Pathology certification, American Association of Bioanalysts certification, or American Medical Technologists certification is preferred.
