NGS Services Bioinformatics Analyst

- Ph.D no academic/industry experience; M.S. and 0-3 years; B.S. 3+ years of academic/industry experience
- Programming skills: SQL, Bash, Python or R
- Computational biology skills using Python, R, and/or Bioconductor
- Advanced knowledge of genome browsers, aligners, and visualization tools
- Advanced knowledge of statistical modeling methods, Open Source NGS analysis tools
- Knowledge and understanding of Next Generation Sequencing, and molecular biology
- Demonstrated ability to learn and integrate new information and technologies quickly
- Self-driven and works well with interdisciplinary team with minimal direction
- Experience with communicating insights and presenting concepts to a diverse audience
- Familiarity with cloud computing environments
- Novel analysis of sequencing data using Open Source tools and packages. Novel development tools inside and outside Tempus pipelines
- Process data from a variety of instruments, methodologies, and novel technologies new to Tempus
- Contribute in collaboration with cross-functional team members to process improvement & experimental design
- Interpret and visualize results using a variety of methods, from data aggregation to statistical analysis
- Communicate findings in a clear and logical manner to help stakeholders make scientific decisions based on standard and bespoke data analysis
- Use SQL and other scripting languages to retrieve relevant data from various bioinformatics databases
- Reviews code/work of fellow team members
- Function to bridge the gap between wet-bench lab staff needs with laboratory information systems engineers to enable the development of a built for purpose LIMS functionality
- Perform queries of internal LIMs and data structures
- Aggregate information pulled from datasets of quantitative and qualitative nature to compile and present reports, tables, and charts for project endpoints
- Use Python and/or R to perform statistical analyses
- Support alignment and visualization of NGS data for troubleshooting
