Requirements

  • Audiology Assistant Certification completion within the first three months of employment

Responsibilities
  • Assist Audiologist in audiological testing and evaluation, ensuring proper fitting of hearing devices and technology
  • Prepares treatment room for examination of patient
  • Cleans and sterilizes instruments while observing principles of sterile technique
  • Assists with examinations by preparing supplies and handing instruments and materials to the audiologist as directed
  • Maintains accurate and complete patient records and documentation
  • Provides patients with basic instruction and information regarding examination procedures
  • Organizes, and stocks audiology rooms with all supplies needed by specialty daily
  • Discards expired supplies
  • Cleans and sanitizes patient room between each appointment
  • Checks audiology clinic organization and cleanliness weekly, hand sanitizer dispensers and reports the need to have them filled and/or to request deep cleaning
  • Assists in performing clerical duties such as answering phone calls and maintaining administrative records
  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets
  • Utilizes IDX RIS/PACS to track patient arrival times and advises front desk personnel of patient delays to maintain daily schedule
  • Greets patients upon arrival and verifies patient information
  • Directs patient to the clinic or audiology room and ensures the patient is ready for the provider
  • Documents all equipment issues and reports to appropriate managing staff
  • Assists in copying completed patient paperwork, delivering originals to front desk for scanning, and distributing copies to appropriate reading rooms
  • Assists in the distribution of patient label stickers in Audiology
  • Performs daily biologic checks of audiological equipment and reports any problems with equipment to the equipment manufacturer and Practice Manager
  • Reports unusual incidents in a timely manner to appropriate supervisory personnel
  • Other duties as assigned
