Requirements
  • A clean Class 1 or Class 3 driver’s license is required.
  • At least two years of previous operating experience is required.
  • A Common Safety Orientation certificate is required.
  • WHMIS 2015 completed within the last three years is required.
  • Candidates must be familiar with safe work procedures and practices for driving and operating equipment.
  • Candidates must be able to work with minimal supervision in a team- and safety-focused environment.
  • Candidates must complete and pass a mandatory pre-employment health and fitness assessment.
  • Candidates must be willing to perform labour work and other tasks as needed.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude is required.
  • Candidates must have the physical ability to perform the work.
  • Candidates must pass a pre-employment and post-incident drug and alcohol test, or comply with the company’s drug and alcohol program.
  • Candidates must be able to speak, read, and write English fluently.
  • Applicants must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
Responsibilities
  • Operate water trucks, straight vacuum units, hydro-vac units, and combo units safely and efficiently.
  • Clean and maintain the unit and associated equipment, and troubleshoot minor issues.
  • Ensure successful completion of tasks while providing professional customer service.
  • Mentor operators and labourers working alongside the operator in the field.
  • Champion compliance with health and safety standards and legal regulations.
  • Train and mentor hydro-vac riggers to foster employee skill development.
  • Set up and inspect grounding and bonding procedures for hydro-vac operations.
  • Complete all required paperwork within the specified timelines.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and routine maintenance.
  • Participate in pre-job and post-job hazard assessments and inspections.
  • Load and unload equipment needed for vacuum and hydro-excavation operations.
  • Ensure all equipment and components remain in good working condition.
  • Maintain and use appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Communicate abnormalities or faulty conditions involving processes, products, machines, equipment, workplaces, or safety to site personnel and the supervisor.
  • Communicate project knowledge professionally to clients.
  • Equip the hydro-vac unit daily with sufficient supplies and equipment for scheduled jobs.
  • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
