Requirements
  • A post-secondary certificate or diploma in Business Administration with completed accounting courses.
  • A CPA designation in progress or already obtained.
  • At least two years of progressive accounting experience in any industry.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including VLOOKUPs and PivotTables, and comfort working with various ERP systems.
  • Knowledge of accounting systems, budgeting, compliance, and internal controls.
  • Strong time-management, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills.
Responsibilities
  • Assist with preparing and reviewing certain financial statements periodically and monthly for smaller entities.
  • Perform bank reconciliations, monthly continuity schedules, and balance-sheet reconciliations, including intercompany accounts.
  • Prepare GST/QST returns at period-end and maintain the related records.
  • Maintain an accurate and functional general ledger for various legal entities.
  • Handle accounts-payable activities, including closing purchase orders, entering invoices within required timelines, and scanning and indexing documents in the ERP system for data archiving.
  • Perform ad hoc analyses and projects using accounting data.
  • Recommend process improvements and efficiency initiatives without compromising accuracy.
  • Participate in cross-training with the accounting team to ensure coverage during vacation periods.
