Requirements
  • Possess a nursing degree from an accredited college or university, or graduate from an approved Licensed Practical Nurse/Licensed Vocational Nurse program.
  • Possess a current, unencumbered, active license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse in this state.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct nursing care to residents and supervise the day-to-day nursing activities performed by nursing assistants.
  • Direct the day-to-day functions of nursing assistants and ensure nursing personnel comply with facility policies, procedures, and job descriptions.
  • Review department policies, procedures, manuals, and job descriptions and recommend revisions.
  • Plan shift services, programs, activities, staffing, and work assignments with nursing and support personnel.
  • Prepare and submit written and oral reports and recommendations concerning shift activities.
  • Coordinate nursing services with other resident services to maintain each resident’s total care regimen.
  • Participate in quality assurance programs and facility inspections conducted by authorized government agencies.
  • Review and update resident discharge plans and assist with planning nursing services for discharge.
  • Admit, transfer, and discharge residents and complete related forms, records, and reports.
  • Maintain resident census reports, charge slips, medical forms, evaluations, studies, and other administrative documentation.
  • Protect user credentials, resident protected health information, and facility information systems from unauthorized access or disclosure.
  • Complete and file records and charts for resident admission, transfer, and discharge.
  • Receive telephone orders from physicians and transcribe orders to resident charts, medication cards, treatment plans, and care plans.
  • Chart nurses’ notes, accidents, incidents, treatments, and resident responses in accordance with documentation procedures.
  • Prepare and administer physician-ordered medications and treatments while verifying resident identity and medication accuracy.
  • Maintain medication, narcotic, supply, and equipment inventories and report discrepancies to the Nurse Supervisor.
  • Participate in employee performance evaluations, determine staffing requirements, and recommend dismissals or transfers to the Nurse Supervisor.
  • Provide leadership to assigned nursing personnel and conduct daily rounds to monitor performance and compliance with nursing standards.
  • Monitor and report staffing shortages, absentee call-ins, complaints, grievances, occupational exposures, suspected fraud, and safety or security incidents.
  • Inform nursing personnel of new admissions, prepare rooms, greet and orient residents and families, and coordinate admission activities.
  • Arrange diagnostic and therapeutic services and consult with physicians regarding resident care, treatment, and rehabilitation.
  • Review resident charts, treatments, medication orders, diets, and care plans, and ensure prescribed care is properly administered.
  • Carry out restorative and rehabilitative programs, including self-help and care activities.
  • Perform catheterization, tube feedings, suctioning, dressing changes, colostomy and drainage-bag care, blood collection, range-of-motion exercises, and other professional nursing services as required.
  • Obtain laboratory specimens, record vital signs, monitor seriously ill residents, and respond to changes in resident condition.
  • Notify physicians and next of kin of accidents, incidents, changes in resident condition, and deaths; follow post-mortem procedures.
  • Participate in developing, planning, conducting, and scheduling in-service training and orientation programs for nursing personnel.
  • Assist with clinical supervision of nurse aide trainees and participate in continuing education and facility training programs.
  • Monitor safety, sanitation, infection-control, hand-hygiene, personal protective equipment, fire-safety, and disaster-preparedness procedures.
  • Maintain clean and sanitary nursing work areas, resident care rooms, treatment areas, medication supplies, equipment, and hazardous-material documentation.
  • Review care plans daily, recommend revisions, ensure care-plan compliance is documented, and coordinate Minimum Data Set assessments and related care-plan processes.
  • Recommend equipment and supply needs, maintain adequate stock, and ensure nursing equipment is operated safely and efficiently.
  • Provide data to the Quality Assurance and Assessment Committee as requested.

PACS Group acquires Alaska care facility, plans 150-bed skilled nursing centre by 2028

PACS Group has appointed Carey P. Hendrickson as chief financial officer, effective 27 April 2026. Hendrickson brings nearly four decades of financial leadership across healthcare, senior living and media sectors. Most recently, Hendrickson served as CFO of U.S. Physical Therapy, overseeing 779 outpatient clinics across 44 states. PACS Group has announced that co-founder and chief financial officer Mark Hancock will retire on 30 June 2026. He will continue serving on the company's board of directors as vice chairman. Hancock co-founded PACS in 2013 with Jason Murray, starting with two post-acute care facilities in San Diego. Dr Conway currently serves as CEO of Optum, UnitedHealth Group's health services division with revenues exceeding $200 billion.
