Requirements
  • 5+ Years of experience in a high performance distributed systems engineering environment, preferably working closely scaling databases and caches to support fast social product growth, and/or the ability to perform at an advanced level in the domain
  • 1+ years of people management, leading technical teams preferably on a consumer application with frequent release cycles. and/or the ability to perform at an advanced level in the domain
  • Strong technical background with the ability to set longer term architectural priorities while maintaining the ability to break those priorities into deliverable milestones
  • Ability to drive a strong sense of ownership across the team, build and maintain strong execution cadences, and motivate the team celebrating wins and learning from experiments
  • Experience guiding teams through planning, prioritization, and execution of work
  • Collaborative, thoughtful, and strategic leadership; comfortable with open communication and giving/receiving constructive feedback respectfully
  • Empathy and customer obsession for collaborating with other infra and product teams across the company
Responsibilities
  • Providing technical guidance and technical contribution to shape one of Nextdoor’s most ambitious technical projects
  • Scaling an engineering team with a culture of high technical performance and pragmatic decision making.
  • Balancing individual technical contributions with leverage through the engineering team you support
  • Participation in in-person Nextdoor events, trainings, off-sites, volunteer days, and other team building exercises
  • Build in-person relationships with team members and contribute to the KIND culture that Nextdoor values
