Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • At least two years of insurance experience is required.
  • Experience reviewing claims for possible changes in rating or acceptability status is required.
  • Experience analyzing insurance needs and determining appropriate levels of coverage is required.
  • Experience working with various commercial insurance product lines is required.
  • Experience investigating and validating proper rating is required.
  • Knowledge of company underwriting policies, procedures, and practices is required.
  • Knowledge of inspection techniques related to commercial insurance is required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others is required.
  • Ability to present complex information clearly and concisely is required.
  • Ability to access and work with rate account information on a computer terminal is required.
  • Ability to review new or renewal commercial insurance accounts to determine appropriate rating classifications is required.
  • Ability to work within a team environment is required.
Responsibilities
  • Review and analyze internal and external investigations, inspections, and statuses to ensure rating and premium value integrity and compliance with underwriting guidelines and corporate goals.
  • Review information, initiate policy adjustments for commercial product lines, and tabulate results.
  • Compare rating characteristics of specific accounts and formulate courses of action to ensure compliance with corporate underwriting rules and procedures.
  • Provide advanced technical and product information in response to questions and inquiries.
  • Attend required training.
  • Correspond with agents and producers and maintain professional relationships while explaining reasons for policy adjustments.
  • Update rating criteria on affected policies.
  • Complete activity sheets for monthly reports when required and calculate recovered premiums to determine the impact of inappropriate ratings on company revenues.
  • Underwrite and process renewals and endorsements within the commercial underwriting analyst authority level.
  • Work with the underwriter, senior underwriter, or supervisor when work falls outside the authorized authority level.
Desired Qualifications
  • College-level coursework in Business Administration or a related field is preferred.
  • CPCU, IIA, CIC, or other insurance-related coursework is preferred.
