Able is a product strategy and development studio. Our Vision is to build products that create a more inclusive and prosperous future for our people and partners (clients). Our teams consist of exceptional Product Designers, Software Engineers, Product Strategists, and Program Managers. 

Able is seeking a Managing Director of Product Strategy to join our distributed team. This role is one of a small group of leaders who are part of our Executive Leadership Team, and reports directly to the CEO. It is a newly created role, and deserving of a unique person to fill it. 

Our Story

Over the past several years, Able has grown immeasurably. Our revenue and team have grown +30% y/y. We’ve also grown in the type of company that we are:

Chapter 1: We were founded in 2013 as a product and engineering hub for a portfolio of early stage start-ups. We grew up as an in-house/external hybrid shared services model. That allowed us to hone our skills and establish our operational and cultural foundation. 

Chapter 2. In 2019 we began to expand our vision. We began to grow outside of our inset partner base. We had good initial success meeting new partners, kicking off new relationships, and delivering high value work.

Chapter 3. We are now beginning a new chapter, an expansion of the ambition of Chapter 2. Our strategy for growth centers around two audiences:

• Venture Capital. VC firms are looking for trusted product and technology solutions to distribute seamlessly across their portfolios at scale. The founders at their portfolio companies are looking for capabilities that can accelerate their businesses’ go-to-market time, while minimizing cost and risk.
• Private Equity. PE firms are looking for trusted solutions that can catalyze growth for their portfolio companies at scale. The leaders of those companies are looking to leverage technology to unlock growth from their organizations.

We are looking for a leader who can inspire both of these segments with strategic product thinking to deliver business outcomes. Unique value for our partners to drive sustainable growth for Able.

Your Responsibilities

1. Craft and implement a vision for the discipline.

• Able’s go to market positioning is becoming clearer. We need a vision for the Product Strategy team that supports it to create unique value to our partners.

2. Build and mature the team to deliver on the vision.

• The team is currently five strong Product Management individuals. We need a leader who can inspire and unify them, grow the team, and become a whole greater than the sum of its parts.

3. Help Able grow and expand in our market.

• Our partners—and future partners—need real product strategy expertise. How to align product-market fit. How to design a product suite that delivers business results. How to use available capital to maximize returns. How to build products that users will love. Effective thinking on questions like these will attract and retain partners as we deliver indispensable value.

What we’re looking for

• 5+ years leading a Product / Product Strategy / Product Management team
• Demonstrated experience leading product organizations that deliver business results
• Vision and leadership abilities to inspire and mobilize talent
• Innate ability to inspire partners to think differently about their product approach
• Dynamic and ambitious approach to company building, for Able and for our partners’ organizations

Your day-to-day

• Strategic development. Articulating the vision and value proposition for the Product Strategy team, and implementing it with our team and partners.
• Working with partners. You will have a focused portfolio of partners to help steer, inspire, and grow.
• Business development. You will meet with prospects to evaluate the opportunity, identify ways for Able to create value, and mobilize teams and work to close deals.
• Team development. Make the Product Strategy team great, by facilitating the growth of existing team members and hiring new ones.
• Company building. Able is a high ambition, high growth team. This role sits on the Executive Leadership Team to help steer the future of our company. 

This position is 100% remote within the U.S.  The candidate must be authorized to work in the United States. 

The base salary range for this position is $225,000 - $255,000 USD.  Profit sharing is part of the full compensation package.  

Salaries offered will take into consideration the actual salary ranges for current employees, the candidate’s depth of experience and qualifications, the level of specialization the role requires, budgetary considerations, the market demand for the role and the local market conditions that exist where the employee will be based.
