Requirements
  • Bachelor of Nursing degree from an accredited school of nursing or currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree Nursing program with completion of the degree within 2 years for promotion.
  • CNOR certification required within 12 months of hire.
  • RN-PPTC must complete new leader onboarding in-person classes and Frontline Nurse Leader Development Program (MyQuest 12 modules) within 6-months of hire.
  • An ability to establish working relationships with diverse groups and individual, medical staff and other health care disciplines.
  • Some positions require certification as a generalist in a related specialty area by the American Nurses Association (ANA).
  • Must have scrub & circulating experience.
  • Two years of work experience within the operating room excluding the orientation period.
  • RN licensure by South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either an American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider
Responsibilities
  • Support and be proactive within the perioperative services team/department to achieve unit and organizational goals including clinical and quality measures, operational efficiency, financial targets, and reduction of supply and care variation through evaluating products.
  • Act as an educational resource to the team while following Association of perioperative Registered Nurses best practices and guidelines.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with Surgical Product Department leadership in a solution-driven manner to create and maintain a culture of teamwork and safety.
  • Lead or co-lead the Working Specialty Groups and ensure Care Team Members attended regularly with minutes documenting opportunities, issues and solutions communicated to the Perioperative Operations Group.
  • Participate in S3 and root cause analysis events including action planning, education and audits specific to the service.
  • Work collaboratively with other coordinators, charge nurses, Surgical Product Department and Perioperative units to provide staffing solutions to meet the needs of all Perioperative areas.
  • Ensure adequate staff and staff competency specific to the service line, equipment, and processes.
  • Request and post job vacancies within the service via the FTE Request System and monitor OurDay for new candidates, interviewing within 1-3 days.
  • Collaborate with Nursing Professional Development team for new-hire onboarding, service-specific competencies training, etc.
  • Provide constructive feedback and direction to Care Team Members and administer equitable and objective-constructive feedback for yearly evaluations.
  • Address behavioral, attendance, and performance issues via the disciplinary process up to a written reprimand and consulting with the manager.
  • Standardize and systemize PeriProcedural operations in collaboration with Perioperative Leadership and MUSC Health leaders to establish operating procedures, enhance workflows, increase productivity, and improve quality outcomes and operational efficiencies across delivery settings.
