Requirements
  • At least 3 years of bridge painting, construction, and inspection experience, including verifying completion of construction work; performing visual and physical inspections of surface cleaning, preparation, and coating systems in accordance with AMPP requirements; and interpreting contract specifications and construction plans, including containment and MPT drawings.
  • AMPP CIP Level I or BCI Level I certification is required and must remain valid for the duration of the assignment.
  • OSHA 30-Hour certification completed within the past 5 years is required.
  • Experience with surface preparation and coating inspection is required.
  • Ability to interpret construction plans and specifications is required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Teams, Word, and Excel, is required.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • Must be able to work weekends and nights if necessary.
  • Must attend MTA Roadway Worker Protection training and maintain certification for the duration of the assignment.
  • Must be able to physically navigate project sites, including inclined embankments, train tracks and ballast, and lifted work platforms.
Responsibilities
  • Inspect surface preparation, cleaning, coating, and painting activities.
  • Verify contractor work complies with plans, specifications, and AMPP requirements.
  • Review contractor monthly submittals for accuracy and completeness, including certified payrolls, DBE/MBE/WBE updates, schedules, payment requisitions, work plans, shop drawings, and project documentation.
  • Interface with Senior Field Inspectors to review third-party contractor and consultant invoices for payment in accordance with progress of the work.
  • Prepare daily inspection reports in Manual for Uniform Record Keeping format and maintain project records.
  • Read and interpret construction plans, specifications, containment plans, and MPT drawings.
  • Coordinate with contractors, Senior Inspectors, and MTA/LIRR personnel.
  • Assist with planning and coordinating track outages, foul time, flag protection, and construction coordination.
  • Identify and report safety concerns and construction issues.
  • Ensure work is performed in accordance with LIRR procedures and guidelines and applicable Safety and Quality Plan requirements.
  • Utilize the electronic filing system and Project Management Information System in accordance with LIRR policy.
  • Travel between project sites as required.
Desired Qualifications
  • Railroad or rail transit experience is preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
