Requirements
  • 5+ years of warehouse, CFS, airport cargo, freight forwarding, transportation, distribution, or logistics operations experience.
  • Leadership experience managing warehouse, CFS, airport, cartage, or freight operations teams.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the operational performance of SFO Airport CFS, the new off-airport facility, and the Sacramento facility.
  • Establish consistent CFS operating standards across all assigned locations.
  • Ensure daily execution of receiving, staging, breakdown, build-up, freight release, transfer, cross dock, inventory control, and exception resolution.
  • Maintain alignment between airport operations, off-airport staging, regional Sacramento flows, cartage requirements, and customer commitments.
  • Ensure each facility has clear operating expectations, staffing plans, escalation points, safety practices, and communication routines.
  • Oversee inbound and outbound CFS freight flow across assigned locations.
  • Ensure freight is received, checked, staged, moved, transferred, released, and documented accurately.
  • Manage cargo availability, driver check-in, dock flow, staging locations, transfer coordination, and freight release readiness.
  • Prevent, identify, and resolve overages, shortages, damages, inventory discrepancies, process failures, and customer exceptions.
  • Promote warehouse discipline for labeling, scanning, manifest control, release procedures, and exception documentation.
  • Maintain accurate visibility to freight inventory, staging, dwell, volume, and capacity.
  • Use CFS reporting and monitoring tools to track beginning inventory, received volume, loading volume, ending inventory, capacity utilization, truck queue time, and related CFS performance measures.
  • Review dwell and exception trends to identify process gaps and service improvement opportunities.
  • Ensure inventory discrepancies are researched, corrected, escalated, and documented.
  • Maintain routine performance reviews for each assigned CFS location.
  • Maintain a safe and secure operating environment across all assigned CFS facilities.
  • Ensure driver check-in, access control, closed-circuit television, alarms, restricted areas, dock safety, and freight staging requirements are followed.
  • Partner with Security, Health and Safety, Facility Management, Trade Compliance, and operational leaders on audits, incident response, corrective actions, and facility controls.
  • Ensure warehouse teams understand security expectations for people, freight, buildings, service providers, and customer cargo.
  • Escalate security breaches, missing cargo, seal issues, pilferage, incorrect documentation, or material freight exceptions immediately.
  • Coordinate freight movements between airport CFS, the off-airport facility, Sacramento, cartage providers, airlines, customers, and other district locations.
  • Partner with Cartage and Transcon leadership to align pickups, deliveries, sweeps, transfers, linehaul, and regional service schedules.
  • Ensure operating procedures define when cargo should move from airport CFS to off-airport staging, Sacramento, or customer delivery.
  • Support consistent communication between CFS, dispatch, service providers, and operations teams.
  • Maintain exception escalation paths for missed pickups, delayed freight, constrained capacity, or urgent customer requirements.
  • Manage labor planning, overtime, equipment needs, service provider costs, facility support needs, and warehouse operating expenses.
  • Support budgeting and cost control for the assigned CFS facilities.
  • Review productivity, staffing, capacity, queue time, equipment utilization, and cost trends.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce dwell, reduce rework, improve load planning, and strengthen facility throughput.
  • Support pricing and customer discussions where CFS, storage, handling, screening, cross dock, transfer, or regional service costs are impacted.
  • Recruit, train, coach, develop, and retain CFS employees and supervisors.
  • Ensure team members understand expectations, standard operating procedures, safety requirements, security expectations, and escalation protocols.
  • Conduct regular staff meetings, one-on-ones, training follow-up, and performance reviews.
  • Build bench strength through cross-training between airport CFS, the off-airport facility, Sacramento, cartage, warehouse, and support functions.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, safety, security, customer service, urgency, teamwork, and continuous improvement
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with airport CFS, free trade zones, bonded freight, air import, air export, GNS, cartage, or gateway operations.
  • Experience managing warehouse key performance indicators, CFS monitor metrics, dwell, truck queue time, inventory controls, and operational dashboards.
  • Experience supporting new facility launches, facility transitions, customer implementations, or service provider transitions.
  • Familiarity with cargo security, Transportation Security Administration and Certified Cargo Screening Facility expectations, SIDA environments, customs-controlled freight, and customer audit readiness.
  • Experience with continuous improvement, process mapping, labor planning, and productivity management.
  • Experience developing automations, applications, or digital solutions.
  • Experience leading cross-functional projects.
  • Experience working in operations, logistics, finance, or enterprise shared services environments.
  • Certifications in Microsoft Power Platform, Azure artificial intelligence, Microsoft Copilot, or related technologies

Expeditors beats Q2 estimates with $3.5B revenue, up 32% year-on-year

Expeditors International reported second-quarter revenue of $3.50 billion, up 32.1% year on year and beating analyst estimates of $2.95 billion by 18.6%. The logistics and freight forwarding company also posted GAAP earnings of $2.03 per share, exceeding consensus estimates of $1.69 by 19.9%. Operating margin held steady at 10% compared to the same quarter last year. However, free cash flow margin declined to 4.8% from 6.2% in the year-ago period. The company's board declared a semi-annual dividend of $0.81 per share, payable on 15 June to shareholders of record as of 1 June. Expeditors has returned nearly $2 billion to shareholders through dividends and share repurchases since 2024. Analysts project revenue growth of 1.1% over the next 12 months.

Expeditors International cuts 230 tech jobs, abandoning longstanding no-layoff policy

Expeditors International, a Washington-based freight forwarder, is cutting 230 employees by the end of the year, marking a departure from its longstanding no-layoff policy. The reductions affect the company's US global technology department across five offices in Washington state. According to a WARN notice filed Monday, the Seattle office will lose 68 employees, Federal Way 66, and Lynnwood 59. Separations began 8 August and will be finalised by 31 December. The cuts represent 15.4% of Expeditors' information systems branch, which employed 1,498 workers as of 31 March, and 1.1% of the company's total 20,361 staff. Affected positions include software developers, quality assurance engineers, project managers and business analysts. The company recently updated its corporate history page to describe its "short-term no layoff policy" rather than simply "no layoff policy".

The layoffs span five locations, including Bellevue, Federal Way, Lynnwood, Seattle, and Airway Heights, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) filing. The WARN notice submitted by Senior Vice President Courtney Hawkins noted that the layoffs are a result of workplace restructuring, which involves the company's U.S. Global Technology Department. Breaking down the Bellevue company's layoffs by location. All 230 employees were notified of the layoffs on Monday, with the first date for separations anticipated to be Aug. 8 and all separations completed by Dec. 31. A vast majority of the impacted positions included developers, along with team and project managers, and other administrative positions. Expeditors has been recognized on the Fortune 500 list since 2006, and is a service-based logistics company that generates "highly optimized and customized" supply chain solutions for its clients across a network of more than 335 locations in 100 countries and six continents, according to Expeditors. Expeditors International surges 39% as Wall Street holds mixed outlook on $20.7B logistics giant

Expeditors International, a global logistics provider with a $20.7 billion market cap, has outperformed the broader market with shares rising 39.4% over the past 52 weeks, compared to the S&P 500's 27.9% gain. The Bellevue, Washington-based company surged 9.6% on 5 May after reporting strong Q1 2026 results, including a 16% increase in earnings per share to $1.71 and 4% revenue growth to $2.8 billion. The company delivered double-digit revenue growth across customs brokerage, distribution and order management businesses, whilst airfreight tonnage increased 5%, offsetting a 4% decline in ocean freight volumes. Analysts project fiscal year 2026 earnings per share to rise 11.9% to $6.66. Among 15 analysts covering the stock, the consensus rating is "hold".
