Requirements
  • A post-secondary degree or diploma in Accounting, Business Administration, or a recognized equivalent is required.
  • A completed Chartered Accountant, Certified General Accountant, or Certified Management Accountant designation is required.
  • Three to five years of senior accounting experience is required.
  • Advanced knowledge of accounting concepts, techniques, and principles is required.
  • Advanced ability to perform detailed reconciliations using large amounts of complex interrelated financial or statistical data is required.
  • Advanced ability to analyze and interpret complex financial data is required.
  • Experience with fixed assets, capital budgeting, and capital leases is required.
  • Experience with cash flow tracking and projection is required.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines is required.
  • Strong communication skills are required.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills are required.
  • Hands-on experience with financial systems such as Infinium and report writers is required.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, specifically Excel, are required.
  • Experience with report preparation, training, and presentations to all levels of staff is required.
  • Experience developing and improving financial models, workflows, and analyses is required.
  • A proven attendance record is required.
  • Ability to perform the essential duties of the job is required.
  • Ability to comply with patient and staff safety policies and procedures is required.
Responsibilities
  • Perform analyses on balance sheet accounts.
  • Coordinate the preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual schedules, statements, and reports for internal and external clients.
  • Liaise with internal and external clients to exchange information and provide professional or technical assistance.
  • Provide advanced support to facilitate management decision-making.
  • Provide advanced support for the hospital’s annual interim and final audits.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls.
  • Keep informed about current and emerging accounting issues and trends, including technological changes.
  • Work effectively with others using empathy and demonstrate behaviours aligned with the organization’s caring and safety values.
Desired Qualifications
  • Knowledge of Ministry of Health MIS Guidelines is preferred.
  • Knowledge of hospital financial accounting requirements and reporting structures is an asset.
  • Infinium experience is a definite asset.
  • Ability to work at any Mackenzie Health site may be required.
