Requirements
  • Strong understanding of qualified retirement plan benefits and providers, generally acquired through 3–5 years of corporate retirement plan service experience at a brokerage firm or provider.
  • A bachelor's degree is strongly preferred, along with at least one recognized financial or benefits industry designation.
  • FINRA Series 65 or 66, or willingness to achieve one within 4 months of hire.
  • AIF designation, or willingness to achieve it within 12 months of hire.
  • Strong financial analysis knowledge and understanding of investment and group retirement plans, as well as federal and state legislation.
  • Ability to explain technical matters in non-technical terms and summarize and present information clearly, concisely, and accurately in writing and verbally.
  • A valid unrestricted Life and Disability License in California and completion of continuing education requirements.
  • A valid driver's license and dependable transportation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, including experience creating tables, charts, graphs, pivot tables, and formulas.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines, adjust priorities, and handle frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to work at a varying pace and interact effectively with diverse personalities.
  • Ability to use a computer keyboard and office equipment and remain seated in a stationary position for extended periods.
Responsibilities
  • Act as the initial point of contact for clients, carriers, and others on the Client Service Team.
  • Review contracts, plan documents, Summary Plan Descriptions, and other legal documents for accuracy and ensure materials are sent to clients promptly.
  • Help ensure client compliance with annual plan testing and coordinate Form 5500 filing procedures when applicable.
  • Work with and instruct carrier representatives and Client Service Teams to support smooth implementation of new retirement plans.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with carriers, clients, and Client Service Teams.
  • Guide and mentor Retirement Analysts while they gather client census and retirement-plan information for new business presentations, renewals, and open-enrollment meetings.
  • Explain client needs and concerns and how plan designs and recommendations address them.
  • Review renewals, new business presentations, and enrollment materials for accuracy, completeness, compliance, and professional presentation.
  • Maintain client files and documentation in the Agency Management System according to policy, procedures, and professional standards.
  • Present financial measures used to predict and analyze plan benefit costs and explain factors influencing those costs and premium rates.
  • Participate in prospect and renewal meetings to learn client needs, challenges, and concerns.
  • Present renewal outcomes to clients and provide recommendations based on findings.
  • Conduct employee enrollment meetings to communicate retirement-plan options.
  • Respond to and resolve routine client issues involving retirement services and plan questions.
  • Keep the Client Executive Service informed of potential errors-and-omissions concerns and client dissatisfaction.
  • Work with the Client Executive Service to develop resolutions and proactive solutions to prevent recurring or future problems.
  • Travel to client sites, usually within driving distance, with occasional overnight stays.
  • Attend networking and industry functions that may require extended work hours.
