Requirements
  • A university degree with strong academic standing is required.
  • Two to four years of professional experience in private investments, investment banking, corporate finance, or a natural resources company is required.
  • Superior proficiency with business software and analytical tools is required.
  • Strong financial skills, including experience building financial models and familiarity with financial statements, are required.
  • Project management skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines are required.
  • The ability to take initiative, work independently, and work as part of a team is required.
  • Good attention to detail and the ability to present information effectively are required.
  • Good communication skills in either Spanish or Portuguese are essential.

Responsibilities
  • Perform preliminary analysis of investment opportunities, meet with prospective partners and industry experts, and prepare summary reports.
  • Perform in-depth due diligence of potential investments, identify key investment merits and risks, meet with management teams, review documentation, and work with partners and third-party consultants.
  • Build detailed financial models, perform extensive sensitivity analyses, and review financial projections and valuation assumptions.
  • Participate in preparing investment recommendation memorandums for investment approval.
  • Participate in presentations to various committees as required.
  • Network with industry experts, consultants, peers, and industry players across the timber, agriculture, and investment industries.
  • Attend conferences, organize meetings, and stay up to date on industry trends.
  • Participate in building deal flow and becoming a subject matter expert.
  • Monitor financial and operating results.
  • Interact with management and operating partners.
  • Work alongside portfolio-company management teams on specific projects to create value.
Desired Qualifications
  • The CFA professional designation is an asset.
  • Experience in private investments, investment banking, corporate finance, or a natural resources company is considered a strong asset.

Air Canada unlocks $2.5B from Aeroplan in 25% stake sale to Blackstone and Canadian institutions

Air Canada is selling a 25% stake in its Aeroplan loyalty programme to an investor group led by Blackstone and La Caisse for $2.5 billion, valuing the programme at $10 billion. The airline will retain 75% ownership and full operational control. Air Canada plans to use the proceeds to repay a US$1.2 billion debt maturity and fund share buybacks, including an $800 million substantial issuer bid expected to complete in September. The investor group also includes PSP Investments and British Columbia Investment Management Corporation. Air Canada retains the right to repurchase the investors' stake between the fifth and eighth anniversaries of the transaction. The investment is scheduled to settle on 17 August 2026.

ADIA, PSP Investments buy $16.3M stake in SG Mart as shares rise 5%

Abu Dhabi Investment Authority and PSP Investments acquired a combined 1.68% stake in SG Mart for ₹138 crore on 14 July. ADIA purchased 11.23 lakh shares (0.89% stake) for approximately ₹72.99 crore at ₹650 per share, whilst PSP Investments bought 10 lakh shares (0.79% stake) for ₹64.99 crore at ₹649.98 per share. The building materials solutions provider's shares rose 5% to close at ₹654.15 on the National Stock Exchange following the transaction. The institutional buying coincided with HR Global Manufacturing's exit, which sold a 1.74% stake worth ₹143 crore. HR Global subsequently acquired shares in Yatharth Hospital & Trauma Care Services for ₹40.73 crore, suggesting portfolio rebalancing rather than concerns about SG Mart's fundamentals.
