Requirements
  • An associate degree in Engineering Technology or Computer-Aided Drafting is required.
  • Four or more years of relevant industrial experience in electrical and instrumentation drafting and design is required.
  • Familiarity with the current version of the National Electrical Code is required.
  • Ability to perform lighting level calculations is required.
  • Ability to size wire, conduit, and overcurrent protection for lighting and power applications is required.
  • Ability to perform voltage drop calculations is required.
  • Ability to route conduit and cable tray is required.
  • Ability to calculate tray and conduit fill is required.
  • Ability to determine motor control center loading is required.
  • Familiarity with specifications and installation details of construction bulk materials and equipment is required.
  • Ability to create accurate electrical installation documents from vendor equipment drawings is required.
  • Ability to determine load center unit substation loading is required.
  • Knowledge and understanding of workflow and information flow between disciplines is required.
  • Knowledge and understanding of schedule constraints and information requirements for producing electrical deliverables is required.
  • Ability to accurately estimate completion of assigned tasks is required.
  • Knowledge and application of company engineering design and computer-aided design drafting standards is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook is required.
  • Proficiency in 2D AutoCAD and MicroStation is required.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Ability to sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time is required.
  • The selected candidate must be authorized to work in the United States.
Responsibilities
  • Perform all aspects of the complete design of electrical and instrumentation assignments using theoretical knowledge and practical design methods.
  • Assist in the design of larger and more complex electrical and instrumentation assignments under general supervision.
  • Use department design and drafting standards.
  • Become familiar with project scope, specifications, and design criteria when assigned to a project task team.
  • Produce installation details, motor control center single lines, electric room layouts, motor control elementaries, connection diagrams, cable schedules, control panel layouts, and grounding, lighting, power, and instrumentation plans under minimal supervision.
  • Recognize and communicate scope and design changes promptly.
  • Provide on-site assistance during startup.
  • Provide interoffice execution support under general supervision.
  • Develop virtual team skills and cross-divisional relationships.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with 3D AutoCAD is desirable.
