Project Manager - Railroad Civil/Track - Charlotte/Raleigh, NC
We are seeking a Project Manager to join our robust Railroad team. The ideal candidate will be an experienced rail professional with a strong technical design background and a desire to lead design teams and interact with clients. The Project Manager in this position will lead rail projects locally and nationwide. The Project Manager will be considered a seller/doer, managing all phases of phase 1 and 2 design projects, resource planning, assisting in business development, client engagement, and proposal preparation.
Benesch’s Railroad Division is made up of highly skilled rail professionals, many of whom are former employees of operating railroads. This firsthand experience working on designing and maintaining active rail systems uniquely equips our team to develop innovative solutions to a wide variety of rail projects.
Location: This position offers a hybrid work schedule, collaborating with our team in Charlotte/Raleigh, NC. For those with the requisite experience, the flexibility to work from any of our Benesch locations is available. The following locations host a Railroad-Track team and focus on Railroad-Track business development: Milwaukee, WI; Chicago, IL; Naperville, IL; Charlotte, NC; and Raleigh, NC.
The Impact You Will Have:
- You will lead and manage rail projects from planning through design into construction.
- You will develop the project scope, budget, and schedule and lead client contract negotiations.
- You will work with and guide technical engineering staff ranging from junior to senior level.
- You will assist and execute technical tasks, including developing technical reports, designs, specifications, and project-related presentations.
- You work closely with other project managers and group leads within the Rail Division to plan resources and manage internal workshare.
- You will assist and lead in developing client capture plans and pursuing win plans, proposals, and other business development and client engagement activities.
- You will meet with the client and public stakeholders and perform site visits in the field as necessary.
What We Are Looking For:
- You have 8+ years’ experience in design and/or planning Railroad projects.
- You have a B.S. in Civil Engineering degree and are a licensed Professional Engineer (P.E)
- You have experience using MicroStation and Inroads, preferably with Open Roads Designer.
- You are knowledgeable in other related project elements a plus, such as Big Data Processing, GIS/ERSI, Drainage Design, Stormwater Permitting, and/or Site Utility (Sewer, Water, Natural Gas, etc.)
- You have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and desire to work closely with clients and stakeholders outside of technical engineering teams.
- You have the desire to work on large multi-disciplinary rail projects that require creative thinking and innovative problem-solving skills.
- You are willing to occasionally travel out-of-town to meet project demands #LI-MM1
