Requirements
  • Proven technical background in retrofit, low carbon construction, or energy efficiency.
  • Qualified assessor (A1, L&D9DI or equivalent) and/or verifier (IQA), or willing to work towards.
  • Experience delivering and assessing vocational or occupational qualifications.
  • Strong understanding of quality assurance processes and awarding body requirements.
  • Familiarity with workplace assessment and experienced worker routes.
  • Confident communicator able to adapt to a range of learners and delivery formats.
Responsibilities
  • Delivering training and assessment across retrofit, energy efficiency, or construction-based qualifications (e.g. NVQs, SCQF awards, EWPA, NOCN).
  • Conducting workplace assessments and on-site verifications in accordance with awarding body requirements.
  • Developing and updating course materials tailored to your area of technical expertise (e.g., building fabric, renewables, airtightness, low-carbon systems).
  • Guiding learners through both practical and theoretical learning, from new entrants to experienced workers.
  • Supporting continuous improvement of training quality and learner outcomes.
  • Mentoring and supporting trainee assessors and instructors as the team grows.
  • Contributing to the strategic growth of The Verdancy Group’s training offer, including engagement with industry partners.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with fabric-first or nature-based insulation materials (e.g. wood fibre, cork, hemp).
  • PAS 2035 role training (e.g. Coordinator, Assessor, Designer).
  • Occupational competence in ventilation, airtightness, or renewable energy technologies.
  • Experience designing learning materials or contributing to curriculum development.
  • Links with employers, trade bodies, or industry stakeholders in the retrofit and construction sectors.
