Requirements
  • Board certification as a Geriatric, Adult, Psychiatric, or Family Nurse Practitioner (NP)
  • Master of Science degree in Nursing, and DC licensure
  • 5+ years' experience in clinical and research care (Geriatric or Neurology)
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and analytical skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Must be self-directed and able to work independently
  • Adapts to unpredictable situations in the patient care setting
Responsibilities
  • Recruit, care for, and promote retention of subjects enrolled in clinical trials of potential new treatments for Alzheimer’s disease
  • Collaborates with community Neurologists, Psychiatrists, Primary Care Physicians, Study Sponsors, and Clinical Research Organizations to ensure quality of care and ethical treatment of subjects enrolled in clinical trials and studies
  • Adhere to FDA regulations and Good Clinical Practice guidelines
  • Supervise research staff and provide oversight to all trial related procedures
  • Engage in community outreach and educational programs designed to inform the public regarding Alzheimer’s disease treatment, care, and research opportunities
  • Proficiency in assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of Alzheimer’s dementia and related disorders
  • Develop treatment plans based on scientific rationale, standards of care, and professional practice guidelines
  • Order and interpret test results including labs, MRIs, PET scans, and Neuropsychological test results
  • Assess, diagnose, and treat patients referred for initial evaluation or a second opinion regarding a dementia diagnosis
  • Educate students, residents and fellows regarding Alzheimer’s care and research
  • As part of an interdisciplinary team, practice independently and collaboratively to provide state of the art care to patients with Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders and their families
