  • High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
  • Must have four years of experience in general building maintenance working with plumbing, HVAC, electrical, lighting, drywall repair, and equipment maintenance.
  • Prefer general building maintenance experience in a healthcare environment.
  • Prefer Journeyman Plumbing or Electrical licensure or a trade school certification.
Responsibilities
  • Responsible for a variety of advanced repair, preventative maintenance tasks, and maintenance documentation on various equipment throughout Parkland Health System to ensure that all equipment is safe and operational.
  • Assists staff members on various advanced repair maintenance and preventative maintenance work orders throughout Parkland Health System to ensure that all mechanical equipment is safe and operational.
  • Performs various work requests to ensure that department/area customers facility issues and needs are addressed in a timely and quick manner.
  • Takes ownership of assigned tasks that effectively and positively represents the Facilities/Engineering Services department and ensures completion of work requests and ensures customer satisfaction.
  • Assists Parkland staff with use and repair of equipment. Serves as a resource person, while providing literature and information in order to assist other personnel with the repair and use of mechanical equipment and machinery.
  • Assists with new employee training as needed.
  • Develops material lists for jobs/work orders and submits requests for management approval, ensuring timely acquisition.
  • Maintains a positive working relationship with job related contacts, such as management, patients, employees, contractors, and vendors in order to improve overall departmental and area performance and to ensure that all job contacts are pleasant and productive.
  • Responsible for department projects as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
  • Experience: Four years of experience in general building maintenance working with plumbing, HVAC, electrical, lighting, drywall repair, and equipment maintenance.
  • Certification/Registration/Licensure: Prefer Journeyman Plumbing or Electrical licensure or a trade school certification.
  • Skills: Must be able to demonstrate a thorough working knowledge of proper safety procedures.
  • Must possess a thorough working knowledge of plumbing and electrical (including lighting and equipment) maintenance functions.
  • Must be able to demonstrate a thorough working knowledge of the proper use of power and hand tools.
  • Must be able to assist with training other employees regarding repair and maintenance functions.
  • Must be able to demonstrate intermediate level skill in soldering copper pipe.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with department and Hospital personnel, both orally and in writing.
  • Must be able to read and interpret sketches, drawings, and technical instruction manuals.
  • Must have basic computer skills.
  • Must be physically able to lift heavy loads, walk, stand for extended periods, and climb ladders.
