- Experience working in a Universal Prekindergarten classroom is required.
- Candidates must currently be in the process of obtaining New York State Early Childhood teaching certification for B-2 or N-6.
- Three to five years of preschool or early childhood teaching experience is required, ideally including experience in a 3K, Universal Prekindergarten, or preschool classroom.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field is required.
- Experience working in a licensed childcare center, private preschool, or early learning center is required.
- Familiarity with play-based learning, emergent curriculum, creative curriculum approaches, Teaching Strategies GOLD, and Social Emotional Learning is required.
- Candidates must have, or be willing to obtain, CPR and First Aid certification.
- Candidates must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
- Candidates must possess independent United States work authorization.
- Candidates must be based in or willing to relocate to New York City.
- Candidates must be able to sit and stand for extended periods, bend, reach overhead, and frequently move or lift children weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted.
- Support the 3K / Universal Prekindergarten preschool classroom in a licensed New York City early learning center.
- Partner with the Head Teacher to implement developmentally appropriate curriculum using play-based learning, emergent curriculum, and creative curriculum approaches.
- Support children’s cognitive, social, and emotional development through Social Emotional Learning and inquiry-based instruction.
- Assist with observing and tracking developmental progress using Teaching Strategies GOLD and other observation-based tools.
- Build relationships with children and families and communicate regularly about milestones and progress.
- Help maintain a safe, nurturing, and well-organized early childhood classroom environment.
- Collaborate with the Head Teacher, teaching team, and school leadership to implement curriculum aligned with New York State early learning standards and 3K / Universal Prekindergarten program expectations.
- Participate in classroom routines, transitions, small-group activities, and daily learning experiences.
- Develop the skills and experience necessary to grow into a future Head Teacher opportunity.
- Interest in and potential to grow into a future Head Teacher role.
