Requirements
  • A Basic Life Support certification is required within 90 days.

Responsibilities
  • Process, coordinate, and schedule diagnostic imaging examination orders and patient exams.
  • Follow scheduling procedures, including preparation instructions, check-in times, procedure processes, and the correct procedure building.
  • Provide direction and assistance for diagnostic imaging appointments to patients and providers.
  • Communicate with radiologists, technologists, and departments to improve examination efficiency and patient experience.
  • Verify two patient identifiers and enter information into the electronic medical record system to activate examination orders.
  • Process system requests and paper filing, check faxes, distribute mail, update patient information, and process daily schedule pulls.
  • Process requests and orders through RightFax and schedule patient exams.
  • Answer departmental phone lines according to organizational standards and provide prompt follow-up.
  • Coordinate patient transport to multiple modalities by monitoring worklists and patient orders.
  • Keep filing areas and drawers organized, maintain transport equipment, and stock examination rooms as needed.
  • Assist with maintaining hospital archives, off-site storage, and outside-affiliate records.
  • Assist with patient-record processes, including identification verification and consent.
  • Process patient imaging media and order requests according to policy and procedure.
  • Route jackets, inserts, and reports to appropriate departments, outside facilities, and doctors' offices.
  • Process CDs and virtual private network pushes in a timely manner.
  • Assist patients with transport when needed and monitor high-risk patients before and during examinations as needed.
  • Identify opportunities to improve customer service for patients and doctors' offices.
Desired Qualifications
  • High school education or equivalent experience.
  • Computer experience with Microsoft Outlook.
  • Previous hospital experience, including medical terminology.
  • Patient registration experience.
  • Simplicity training within 90 days.
  • Bilingual skills.
  • Computer experience with Microsoft Outlook, an electronic health record system, and a picture archiving and communication system.
  • Knowledge and application of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act guidelines and patient confidentiality practices.
