Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience using electronic test equipment to troubleshoot and diagnose failed units and components.
  • Sound reasoning skills in risk assessment and failure analysis.
  • A strong understanding and working knowledge of root cause analysis techniques and effective corrective action.
  • Knowledge of electrical and mechanical requirements, including military standards, J-STD-001, and IPC-A-610.
  • Knowledge of power switching techniques, control systems, thermal analysis, and component modeling.
  • Knowledge of packaging and altitude considerations.
  • Knowledge of network simulation.
  • Knowledge of reliability topics related to power conversion.
  • Knowledge of environmental effects on electronic systems.
  • Knowledge of magnetics design.
  • Knowledge of electromagnetic interference emissions.
Responsibilities
  • Perform task- and project-level assignments involving the design, development, analysis, and manufacturing support of power supplies and power conversion equipment.
  • Produce original electrical designs for power supplies and power conversion equipment that conform to customer specifications and company standards.
  • Analyze existing products and incorporate design improvements, including changes driven by customer specifications, components, manufacturing requirements, and obsolescence issues.
  • Support bid and proposal activities.
  • Determine testing protocols for design and prototype validation and final product acceptance testing.
  • Support manufacturing by producing designs that conform to IPC standards and design-for-manufacturability guidelines, and review manufacturing issues for input to design changes.
  • Develop product performance and compliance testing.
  • Develop plans and schedules for product design and development programs, and develop and maintain program budgets.
  • Participate in design reviews, scheduling meetings, and engineering and manufacturing work groups to provide design input.
  • Work flexible hours and/or different shifts as required.
  • Work safely and professionally while adhering to OSHA, Environmental Protection Agency, state, and federal regulations.
  • Arrive on time and work each scheduled day to support team productivity and customer product schedules.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Five years of analog design experience, preferably involving switching power supplies.
