Requirements
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish.
  • Ability to read and write in English and Spanish.
  • Ability to establish and maintain excellent community relations.
  • Lived experience in the communities served.
  • Ability to facilitate one-hour training sessions for no more than 20 stores and up to 80 training sessions.
  • Ability to follow established protocols.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint, and PowerPoint.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Car insurance.
  • Ability to operate a computer and communicate in person and by telephone, speak in front of groups, sit for long periods, and occasionally exert 20 to 50 pounds of force or constantly move objects weighing up to 10 pounds.
  • Associate degree required.
Responsibilities
  • Work directly with vulnerable and underserved communities by identifying their needs and assisting their efforts at self-organization, challenge, and education.
  • Organize, participate in, and promote events as directed, including promoting grant goals and objectives.
  • Develop and maintain rapport with store owners, employees, and stores.
  • Support ongoing community programs through logistical and material coordination.
  • Assist with developing radio scripts as directed.
  • Participate in on-air radio programming as directed.
  • Recognize emerging issues, community leaders, and topics of interest that enable collaboration with NCEC/KDNA.
  • Monitor local, state, and national events related to store news, ownership changes, staff turnover, and economic changes affecting store income.
  • Promote the organization and its services to the community.
  • Work with the team and assist with assigned tasks.
  • Assist program coordinators and outreach staff in prioritizing outreach materials and key events.
  • Develop outreach content and materials as directed.
  • Provide outreach within the community based on grant expectations, including evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Maintain a strong and effective organizational voice through outreach.
  • Keep client information confidential and avoid using a personal phone for communication.
  • Interpret and translate as needed.
  • Maintain punctuality and strong workplace attendance.
  • Work alongside the team to review and improve social media materials.
