Requirements
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision and support.
  • Oral and written communication skills and basic mathematical abilities.
  • Ability to use commercial cleaning equipment, including small power tools and hand tools.
  • Ability to perform repairs and maintenance involving basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and painting.
  • Experience operating manual and power tools safely.
  • Ability to work outdoors under adverse weather conditions.
  • Willingness to attend and participate in training sessions.
  • Adaptability and flexibility in a changing work environment and job requirements.
  • Awareness of deadlines and a sense of urgency when completing time-sensitive tasks.

Responsibilities
  • Thoroughly clean the entire building according to the cleaning schedule.
  • Control inventory and order and stock cleaning supplies and equipment.
  • Set up and break down rooms for programs as needed.
  • Clean and maintain outside grounds and windows.
  • Perform touch-up painting as needed.
  • Move donations promptly by coordinating with the ARC and thrift store representative.
  • Prepare air-conditioning and heating thermostats and the heat timer for winter and summer.
  • Break down and dispose of boxes and other garbage daily while keeping dumpsters and the surrounding area neat and clean.
  • Take out dumpsters as scheduled and return them on time.
  • Turn out all lights except office lights and secure the building before leaving each day.
  • Unload food items and other donations.
  • Assist with food pickups from donors.
  • Move and lift furnishings, equipment, and food items.
  • Run errands and perform donation pickups.
  • Salt and remove snow from sidewalks, entrances, the dumpster area, and parking area, including snowfall outside the normal work schedule.
  • Comply with the preventative maintenance schedule.
  • Consult with the direct supervisor and Corps Officer regarding building maintenance problems.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and cleaning of vehicles.
  • Perform HVAC, plumbing, and electrical work as permitted by applicable codes.
  • Coordinate with outside contractors for approved quotes and work.
  • Coordinate inspections related to physical buildings.
  • Perform Christmas-related food and toy pickups and deliveries as needed.
  • Transport kettle workers as needed during Christmas operations.
  • Set up the Christmas Castle.
  • Clean the Christmas Castle daily.
  • Assist staff and volunteers with lifting and moving items as needed.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with cleaning materials and methods.
  • A high school diploma or GED.
