Requirements
- Class-A Commercial Driver's License
- Valid U.S. driver's license and clean driving record, validated by MVR check
- Minimum 3 years of experience driving trucks commercially
- Clean driving record with 0 violation points
- Is at least 21 years of age
- Meets all DOT qualifications
- Must pass pre-employment, post-incident, and randomized drug testing in accordance with FMCSA requirements
- Safety focus and understanding of risk assessments
- Ability to make command decisions, lead by example, and motivate teams
- Exceptional critical thinking and communication skills
- Experience working in a collaborative environment
- Computer proficiency - typing, navigating, utilizing business applications
- Ability to travel across or out of state, for up to 3 weeks at a time
- Flexibility to work days, nights, weekends, and overtime, all as needed
- Is at least 21 years of age
Responsibilities
- Teach a team of autonomous vehicle and/or truck operations specialists to safely and effectively operate Aurora's technology
- Work primarily out of Aurora's terminal network, throughout Texas
- Train in-vehicle and classroom modules, across several Aurora locations
- Facilitate and continuously improve our new hire, ongoing, and remedial vehicle operations training program, with a focus on safety and efficiency
- Update and maintain curriculum, content, and documentation as needed
- Provide verbal and written feedback to help trainees develop the required skills to safely operate an AV
- Execute spot checks for operators, post-training, to measure knowledge retention
- Collaborate cross-functionally with teams throughout Aurora to deliver the best program possible
- Operate in an autonomous truck or passenger vehicle, 25-50% of the time
- Maintain deep understanding of autonomy, aurora driver capabilities, AV platforms, as well as policies and processes for in-vehicle operations
- Understand and monitor all applicable DOT and FMCSA compliance regulations
- Follow all Aurora policies and adhere to the Vehicle Operations Manual
- Play an integral role in developing team culture and represent Aurora as an ambassador of our company values
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with autonomous vehicle technology operations
- Experience training CDL drivers or experience in education or mentorship
- Experience in trucking, transportation, or as OTR CDL driver
- 2+ years experience developing or executing a training program with success
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to adjust for audience
- Strong technical aptitude and ability to learn new software applications and processes
- The ability to independently teach and instruct new hires with minimal supervision
- Strong time management skills
- Experience with Jira, G-Suite, Command Line Interface, Slack
- Experience with Environmental Health and Safety or OSHA regulations
