Requirements
  • Successful candidates must have a current PE registration.
  • High school diploma with trade school certification in CAD Mechanical, Plumbing or Electrical fields or AA degree in Mechanical, Plumbing or Electrical fields relevant experience or equivalent work experience.
  • 7 – 10 years of relevant experience in MEP field.
  • Advanced skills with the MSN Office Suite including: Word, Outlook, Excel, Access and PowerPoint as well as Adobe Acrobat/Reader.
  • Effective dispute resolution skills.
  • Able to perform calculation for his/her trade to support design; possess basic knowledge of systems design for various projects.
  • Knowledge of design of various systems.
  • Possess detailed knowledge of equipment from various manufacturers for the trade and able to make proper selections with/without supervision of Senior Designer/Engineer.
  • Thorough understanding of all applicable codes.
  • Thorough understanding of LEED principles and accreditation desired.
  • Understand file locations, names, layers, company pen weights and symbology per company CAD standards.
  • Understanding of diagrams and details.
  • Understanding of the construction process (Bid Process, Changer Orders, RFI’s, Addenda, Bulletins).
  • Willingness to pursue professional development opportunities.
Responsibilities
  • As a Senior Electrical Designer, you will be responsible for directing and leading the design team of a wide number of projects.
  • Assume responsible charge for the overall economic well being of the assigned projects.
  • Conduct business development activities.
  • Conducts due diligence reports that comply with group and company standards and procedures. Establishes design standards, specifications, and criteria for projects.
  • Designs large projects, prepares reports and specifications, and provides a very high level of technical leadership.
  • Establishes project budgets and schedules.
  • Networks within SHG and outside.
  • Participates in QA/QC process of completed work by staff.
  • Participates in various trade organizations and prepare presentations.
  • Performs “Engineer of Record” duties for projects.
  • Performs calculations, equipment selection, equipment specification, system design, system layout, field investigation, and construction administration.
  • Performs staff resource management and review.
  • Produces drawings consistent with client requirements and standards.
  • Provides consulting engineering services including preparation of due diligence reports, gap analyses, and feasibility reports.
  • Pursues continuing education.
  • Represents Firm in all interactions with clients, contractors, architects and other project team members.
