Requirements
  • 5+ years of full-life cycle corporate recruiting experience, with a track record of successfully identifying and engaging top talent in the Insurance industry. P&C (Property & Casualty) experience is preferred.
  • Can perform all aspects of talent search including internet search optimization, innovative candidate sourcing programs, passive candidate mining and networking, pre-screening, and candidate relationship management.
  • Proficiency in utilizing various sourcing techniques, tools, and platforms; including Boolean search, market research, LinkedIn Recruiter, and social media.
  • Exceptional client service and candidate relationship management skills required.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality and handle highly sensitive/confidential information.
  • Able to demonstrate critical thinking based on in-depth data, substantiating information, considering/respecting of other's input, personal values and ethics.
  • Familiarity with applicant tracking systems (ATS), Workday preferred.
  • Able to comprehend and apply related federal, state, and local laws.

Responsibilities
  • Manage a recruitment strategy for Markel Specialty Insurance division with an emphasis on talent pipeline to ensure we meet current and future staffing requirements.
  • Full life-cycle recruitment: sourcing, screening & assessment, candidate submittals, manage the interview process, and negotiate offers on behalf of Markel.
  • Partner with senior leaders to strategize on recruiting initiatives, understand trends, provide competitive intelligence, and ensure headcount alignment.
  • Provide regular updates and needs calibration to hiring teams and HRBP’s.
  • Leverage the Markel EVP to implement marketing strategies aligned with Markel’s brand, vision and core values to attract and hire exceptional and diverse talent.
  • Develop sourcing strategies to include sourcing ‘passive’ candidates. Leverage networking skills, as well as Workday Recruiter, social media, job boards, employee referrals, search engine optimization and LinkedIn recruiting tools.
  • Proactively establishing and maintaining beneficial business relationships through networking with industry contacts, association members, trade groups, employment groups and/or social media.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of TA processes and operations to optimize efficiency.
  • Recruit for additional roles outside of Markel Specialty as needed.
