Fisher doubles Cisco stake, adds 22x more Palo Alto shares in AI security play

Ken Fisher's firm increased its stakes in Cisco Systems and Palo Alto Networks between March and June, according to regulatory filings disclosed in September. Fisher Asset Management's Cisco position rose from 17.3 million to 33.4 million shares, whilst its Palo Alto holdings jumped from 256,661 to 5.8 million shares. The two companies represent different approaches to AI infrastructure security. Cisco combines networking equipment with security software, reporting 28% growth in fiscal Q4 networking revenue to $9.8 billion and 14% growth in security revenue to $2.2 billion. Palo Alto focuses on security platforms, posting 34% revenue growth to $3.41 billion in its fiscal Q4, though it reported a $282 million GAAP net loss partly due to fair-value charges on acquired convertible notes. The filings do not explain Fisher's investment rationale.

Cisco jumps 3.7% as Nvidia's Huang names cybersecurity AI's next big opportunity

Cisco Systems shares jumped approximately 3.7% to $111.45 on Friday after Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang named cybersecurity as AI's next major opportunity and identified Cisco among Nvidia's partners. Huang believes cybersecurity will follow AI coding as a breakthrough application because digital defenses must remain active continuously rather than wait for prompts. Cisco is already capitalising on the AI infrastructure boom, recording $9.3 billion in fiscal 2026 AI orders, including $4 billion in its fourth quarter. Quarterly revenue climbed to $17.25 billion from $14.67 billion year-over-year. However, Cisco's current share price of $111.45 stands nearly 50% above its estimated value of $74.31, raising valuation concerns. The company now faces the challenge of converting its position in AI networks into paid cybersecurity services.

Cisco stock falls 10% as hyperscaler AI revenue mix pressures margins despite record $63.3B year

Cisco Systems stock trades near $109, down 16% from its 52-week high after falling 10.1% in the past month. The networking equipment maker reported record fiscal 2026 revenue of $63.3bn and guided fiscal 2027 revenue above $72bn, ahead of Wall Street expectations. The concern centres on margins. Non-GAAP gross margin fell 210 basis points year-over-year to 66.3% in Q4, with further headwinds expected as the revenue mix shifts towards hardware. Cisco's fastest growth comes from hyperscaler AI infrastructure, which accounted for roughly $2.9bn of its $6.7bn revenue increase. This segment grew from under 2% of revenue in fiscal 2025 to 6% in fiscal 2026. Management projects it will reach $7.5bn in fiscal 2027, nearly 10% of guided revenue. Four top hyperscalers each grew their AI infrastructure orders with Cisco in triple digits during Q4.

Cisco reports AI agents consume 60% of global inference capacity as token usage surges 14x

Cisco Systems reported that AI agents now consume approximately 60% of global inference capacity, with token usage rising fourteenfold since February. The networking and cybersecurity infrastructure leader posted fiscal fourth-quarter revenue of $17.3 billion, up 18%, driven by a 28% increase in networking sales. AI-infrastructure orders from hyperscalers reached $4 billion for the quarter and $9.3 billion for the full year. Management noted that AI agents require about 450% more network bandwidth than humans performing similar tasks. The annual AI orders represent nearly 14.7% of Cisco's $63.3 billion fiscal-year revenue. Cisco shares gained approximately 0.3% to $109.59 on Wednesday.

Cisco quietly powers AI infrastructure with $9.3B in hyperscale orders and 21x forward P/E

Cisco has secured $9.3 billion in hyperscale AI orders for fiscal year 2026, positioning itself as a key player in AI infrastructure. The company's fourth-quarter networking product orders grew 40%, marking the eighth consecutive quarter of double-digit growth. Revenue reached $17.3 billion in Q4, up 17.6%, whilst non-GAAP earnings per share of $1.22 beat estimates by 4.4%. Management projects AI infrastructure revenue of $7.5 billion in fiscal 2027. CEO Chuck Robbins cited "accelerating adoption of agentic AI" as driving a networking super cycle. Four major hyperscalers increased AI infrastructure orders in Q4. Cisco trades at a 21x forward price-to-earnings ratio, significantly below competitor Arista Networks' 70x trailing P/E. However, non-GAAP gross margin fell to 66.3% from 68.4% year-over-year due to product mix shifts towards high-volume AI hardware.
