Requirements
  • Must possess a valid California Driver’s License by day one of hire.
  • Must possess a valid Class A Driver’s Permit by day one of hire.
  • Must have 4 years of journey-level experience in light, medium, or heavy-duty equipment service and repair and be able to provide verification.
  • Must be able to pass an OSHA Crane Surveyor examination within 36 months of hire.
  • Must be able to work in all types of weather extremes.
  • Must be able to drive safely in all weather and road conditions.
  • Must be able to work flexible schedules, extended hours, nights, weekends, and/or overtime, whether scheduled or ad hoc.
  • Must be able to wear company-provided Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 75 pounds at least once per day.
  • This DOT-covered classification is subject to random drug and/or alcohol screening.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct visual, auditory, and operational inspections of vehicles and equipment to identify and troubleshoot problems for repair, identify problem causes, and research problems using repair manuals, schematics, original equipment manufacturers, service bulletins, and other mechanics as needed.
  • Inspect vehicles and equipment being assembled, fabricated, or repaired to ensure they meet company and manufacturer specifications.
  • Prepare Estimate for Repair or Replacement forms or any future replacement form.
  • Inspect and repair cranes used in lifting service and all types of vehicles, construction equipment, and appurtenances, including hydraulic and electrical circuits and devices, and prepare reports.
  • Operate all types of vehicles and construction equipment properly and impart this knowledge to other employees.
  • Recommend payment of invoices.
  • Initiate claims and adjustments.
  • Use hand and power tools to disassemble, access, and reassemble equipment or components; remove and replace broken or worn parts such as cylinders, brakes, and gaskets; and perform electrical repairs.
  • Complete training and demonstrate the knowledge and ability to perform crane equipment inspections to be recognized as a Crane Surveyor.
Desired Qualifications
  • A California Commercial Driver’s License Class A or equivalent.
  • Mobile Crane Operator certification.
  • Cal/OSHA Crane Surveyor License.
  • Demonstrated ability and experience working with computer-controlled engine systems.
  • Demonstrated work experience with air brakes and hydraulic systems.
  • Demonstrated work experience with heavy equipment.
  • Demonstrated experience with computer equipment, including a keyboard and mouse.
  • Two years of experience in crane-related field duties such as crane inspection.
