Requirements
  • A minimum of four years of experience working in a university or comparable experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of university administration practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to continually acquire new knowledge, particularly regarding regulations, policies, and disabilities in higher education.
  • Written and oral communication skills, including preparing comprehensive reports and executive summaries incorporating complex, highly technical information.
  • Ability to compose effective, error-free correspondence and maintain detailed, accurate records.
  • Organizational, communication, and collegial skills.
  • Computer competency and the ability to conceptualize, organize, and complete projects independently and collaboratively.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • An Associate’s degree or equivalent experience.
Responsibilities
  • Provide effective and efficient office assistance for the Disability Support Services Office and assist the Director and coordinator with duties related to faculty, departments, students, and the university community.
  • Prepare memoranda, forms, reports, proposals, correspondence, agendas, minutes, and other documents; schedule appointments; maintain calendars; handle travel arrangements and conference registration; maintain filing systems; distribute documents; proofread documents; and provide reception backup.
  • Recruit, hire, assign, and pay student note takers for students approved for and requesting note-taking accommodations.
  • Coordinate internal office activities involving assistive technology; ensure office equipment and computer software are regularly upgraded and functioning properly; and demonstrate assistive technology software to others.
  • Work with Information Technology Services to coordinate classroom equipment and furniture for students with physical disabilities.
  • Coordinate Communication Access Realtime Translation services for students with hearing impairments.
  • Assist in overseeing and training graduate assistants in the day-to-day operations of the Disability Support Services Office and coordinate student staff schedules.
  • Assist with the AIM management system proctoring functions and proctor exams as needed.
  • Coordinate email communications, oversee office-supply purchases, and ensure office equipment, telecommunications systems, and office furniture are functioning properly.
  • Maintain an organized professional workspace and ensure adequate supplies and appropriate setup for meetings, activities, and events.
  • Coordinate the exam-proctoring program with students, faculty, and graduate assistants and ensure adequate equipment and testing space.
  • Support the Disability Support Services Director and Assistant Director by performing varied administrative and clerical tasks.
  • Represent the university within the higher education data warehouse community and at professional organizations or associations, and serve on committees as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
