Position Overview
The Healthcare Technologies team builds native platform solutions that enable healthcare-specific platform capabilities. This management role in the Database Platforms (DP) department will contribute to the InterSystems IRIS, InterSystems IRIS for Health and InterSystems Health Connect products.
The Healthcare Technologies team needs a technical manager who can lead a team that modernizes, enhances and maintains platform support for healthcare technologies including the FHIR server, HL7 and X12 message validation and transformation capabilities, and a DICOM adapter while making contributions to the platform as well.
This position is in the InterSystems headquarters in Cambridge, MA.
Responsibilities
This manager will be responsible for the productivity of a small team of developers. They will spend 30-50% of their time making code changes, in code review, and in design/architecture discussions. They will maintain documentation of the architecture of their area of responsibility. They will ensure that all product changes from their team follow the expected development workflow which includes the use of source control, code reviews and clear documentation. They will also triage issues reported from the field and from internal users.
They will be responsible for their team’s ability to release high quality solutions to market needs identified and prioritized by the product management team in a timely fashion. They will be responsible for staffing their team accordingly and arguing for budgeting additional openings.
This role requires the candidate to collaborate with several other teams including the DP Integration development team and several HealthShare scrum teams. It also requires the candidate to work with shared services like Release Engineering, Learning Services and Documentation, and Quality Development.
The technology stack includes Angular, CSP/Zen, ObjectScript and InterSystems IRIS for Health.
Position Requirements
- 3+ years of experience as a technical team lead or technical manager
- Driven to build market leading solutions
- Experience with health messaging standards
- Experience with secure web services
- Experience with XML and XSLT
- Enjoys being the spokesperson for a team
- Able to balance competing pressures and priorities
- Enjoys perfecting and enhancing mature solutions equally to building new solutions
- 4+ years of experience with python, Java or a similar programming language
- College degree in a technical field like engineering or science
- Graduate degree with any amount of professional experience or undergrad degree with 5+ years of professional experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional experience with healthcare IT interface engineering
- Professional experience as a full-stack developer
- Professional experience with cloud deployment and containers
- Professional experience with ObjectScript
- Professional experience with InterSystems IRIS Interoperability or Ensemble
