Requirements
  • A masters degree in nursing; doctoral degree preferred
  • One year of full-time direct patient care experience within the last 5 years is required. Experience in medical-surgical nursing/ICU, pediatrics, and maternal-child health is preferred.
  • A minimum of one year simulation or clinical teaching experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, implement, and evaluate simulation experiences/scenarios.
  • Upon hire, the faculty member must be licensed as a registered nurse in California.
  • A strong commitment to teaching and scholarship, experience and willingness to work in a culturally diverse environment and an understanding of and commitment to support the mission of the University.
Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Nursing faculty, the SONHP Simulation Center and Skills Lab team and nursing administration to support learner competency attainment, skills acquisition, deliberative practice, and simulation-based education activities.
  • Demonstrate application of simulation based education best practices and provide direct education to prelicensure nursing students.
  • Contribute to development and refinement of simulation based activities.
  • Prepare, maintain, and use forms, records, and reports using a variety of evidence supported resources.
  • Evaluate and provide feedback to learners during simulation experiences per SONHP policies.
  • Support faculty and staff during planning, trialing, validation, and running of laboratory and/or simulation-based education activities.
  • Support development and refinement of Simulation Center and Skills Lab processes, policies and procedures.
  • Provide technical instruction assistance to learners practicing clinical skills and ensure remediation of students in need of improvement with clinical skills, communicating with program faculty regarding the learner's performance per SONHP policies.
  • Support orientation and mentorship of new faculty and staff.
  • Engage in recruitment and promotion events as needed, and other simulation related activities as needed.
