Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid state driver's license with minimal driving infractions/incidents
  • Must successfully pass drug screening, motor vehicle record review, criminal background check, and DOT physical examination. (pre-employment and ongoing)
  • Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively and professionally
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in the field
  • Comfortable using GPS, mobile technology, tablets, and electronic applications
  • Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 75 pounds
  • Ability to read and interpret roadside service procedures and member benefits
  • Basic math and recordkeeping skills
  • Ability to successfully complete AAA training programs
  • Commitment to safety and teamwork
  • If employed in Illinois, possession of a valid Illinois C-Non CDL driver’s license is required
Responsibilities
  • Respond to roadside assistance requests from AAA members using a tow truck or service vehicle
  • Provide emergency roadside services, including tire changes, fuel delivery, battery testing and installation, jump starts, lockout assistance, and minor mechanical adjustments
  • Safely tow disabled vehicles following established procedures and towing guidelines
  • Verify AAA membership and deliver outstanding customer service during every interaction
  • Complete pre-trip and post-trip DOT inspections and report vehicle maintenance concerns
  • Maintain a clean and professional service vehicle
  • Utilize tablets and electronic devices to manage calls, update service requests, and access towing procedures
  • Accurately document daily activities, service calls, vehicle logs, and receipts
  • Maintain DOT certification and an acceptable driving record
  • Achieve goals related to member satisfaction, safety, productivity, and battery services
  • Support community and special AAA events as needed
Desired Qualifications
  • Prior experience providing roadside assistance services such as battery testing, jump starts, lockout assistance, fuel delivery, or tire changes
  • Previous tow truck driving experience
  • Experience operating wheel-lift, flatbed, or dolly towing equipment
  • Commercial driving experience
  • Automotive knowledge or mechanical aptitude
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
