Requirements
  • Assistant Professor candidates must have a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine or equivalent degree and three years of veterinary clinical practice experience.
  • Associate Professor candidates must have a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine or equivalent degree, five years of academic experience in veterinary education, and veterinary clinical practice experience, subject to internal review by Louisiana State University.
  • Candidates must be able to acquire a faculty or full veterinary license in Louisiana.
  • The position requires standing, sitting, walking, bending, reaching, crawling, twisting, pushing and pulling, climbing, squatting, and lifting more than and less than 50 pounds.
  • A satisfactory pre-employment background check is required.
  • Candidates must have valid United States work authorization at the time of hire and maintain it throughout employment.
Responsibilities
  • Provide instruction in clinical and surgical skills laboratories across years 1–4 in the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program, including supervising veterinary students in pre-operative, operative, and post-operative care of live animals.
  • Facilitate small-group sessions in communication skills laboratories and problem-based learning across years 1–3 in the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program.
  • Participate in objective structured clinical skills examinations as an examiner, animal handler, and/or assistant.
  • Support the development and maintenance of relevant low-fidelity models used in clinical and surgical skills laboratories.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Drive university vehicles to collect program donations and move program assets to and from outreach events.
  • Participate in relevant outreach opportunities for LSU Veterinary Medicine.
  • Potentially participate in clinical education, classroom education, and research when consistent with program and hospital needs and available schedule.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine or equivalent degree, five or more years of academic experience in veterinary education, veterinary clinical practice experience, and two or more years of adult education experience.
  • Experience in basic veterinary surgery.
  • Experience in basic veterinary surgical training, veterinary anesthesia, communication skills, clinical skills, small-group learning, or adult learning.
  • A master's or other post-graduate degree in education.
