The Mammalian Operations team is seeking an animal studies program manager to coordinate activities for in vivo experiments performed in conjunction with third-party research organizations. Your primary role is to connect R&D teams, downstream analytics teams, and more across different animal studies, in order to identify opportunities to share resources, streamline workflows, and ensure schedule alignment among dependents. Based on your own experience with in vivo studies, you know what it looks like to execute a project well, and you are excited to contribute your expertise to Ginkgo. Internal title is Manager, Mammalian Operations.
Responsibilities
- Maintain an up-to-date understanding of objectives, milestones, and risks for multiple projects simultaneously
- Track planned schedules and dependencies for in vivo studies across multiple project teams and verticals
- Communicate any experimental changes or schedule delays to internal and external stakeholders
- Coordinate the flow of information and experiment materials among internal groups, and with third-party vendors
- Establish and maintain documentation systems for in vivo experiment metadata
- Coordinate with internal data and software teams for continuous improvement of documentation and communication tools
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s +5 years relevant work experience, Master’s + 3 year relevant work experience, PhD without industry experience, or equivalent work experience.
- Experience executing in vivo experiments and/or handling tissue samples
- Experience managing cross-functional projects (project management certification encouraged, but not required) and collaborating with multiple teams
- Demonstrated ability to monitor multiple flows of information
- Dedication to clear, concise, and proactive communication
- Comfort independently implementing organizational tools
- Commitment to performing animal studies with conscientiousness and care
Preferred Capabilities and Experience:
- Experience with in vivo experiment design
- Hands-on experience with downstream screening methods including high-throughput plate assays, DNA/RNA extraction and sequencing, and more
- Hands-on experience with payload manufacturing (AAV, LNP, RNA, etc.)
- Experience coordinating scientific tasks with external vendors (CMOs, CROs, etc.)
- Experience with project planning tools like Smartsheet, Atlassian (Jira)
- Certification in project management

Total compensation for this role is market driven, with a starting salary of $102,300 minimum of range +, as well as company stock awards. Base pay is ultimately determined based on a candidate’s skills, expertise, and experience. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental & vision coverage, health spending accounts, voluntary benefits, leave of absence policies, Employee Assistance Program, 401(k) program with employer contribution, 8 paid holidays in addition to a full-week winter shutdown and unlimited Paid Time Off policy.
