We are seeking an experienced and resilient Deputy Team Manager to support the leadership of our Emergency Duty Team (EDT) in Adult Social Care.
Working alongside the EDT Team Manager, you will supervise and support up to 5 staff, providing operational leadership, specialist guidance, and quality assurance across a 24/7 service. As a warranted AMHP or experienced child care social worker, you will also participate in the out-of-hours rota, undertaking Mental Health Act Assessments and urgent safeguarding interventions.
Key responsibilities include:
• Supervising and supporting staff to deliver safe, effective and person-centred practice across adult and children’s services.
• Leading day-to-day operations, ensuring statutory duties are fulfilled under the Mental Health Act 1983 (as amended 2007), Care Act 2014, and Children Act 1989.
• Managing urgent safeguarding cases for both adults and children, including statutory child protection enquiries and Looked After Children responsibilities.
• Providing oversight of assessments, care planning, and immediate service responses.
• Allocating and prioritising work to meet the demands of a high-pressure emergency service.
• Building strong partnerships with NHS colleagues, courts, police, voluntary sector organisations and other council departments.
• Deputising for the Team Manager and contributing to service improvement and policy development.

We are looking for:
• A passionate and experienced professional with a current AMHP warrant.
• Substantial post-qualifying experience in adult social care and mental health practice.
• Proven ability to supervise, mentor, and support staff to deliver high-quality outcomes.
• Strong knowledge of the legislative framework, safeguarding, and best practice in adult mental health.
• Excellent communication and influencing skills, with experience of working successfully in multi-agency settings.
• A flexible and resilient leader, committed to continuous service improvement and professional development.
