Cross-sector Climate Commitment launched to accelerate coordinated supply chain decarbonisation.

Cross-sector Climate Commitment launched to accelerate coordinated supply chain decarbonisation. March 24, 2026 Developed by BEAMA, the 2050 Connected Climate Commitment provides a shared framework for science-based targets, governance integration, circular economy principles, and value chain collaboration. Nearly 30 organisations across the UK's energy, transport, and built environment sectors, including signatories Schneider Electric, Wilson Transformers, Legrand and Fundamentals - supported by Scottish & Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) and City Electrical Factors (CEF) - have launched a new Climate Commitment aimed at strengthening aligned, measurable and accountable progress toward Net Zero. As Scope 3 emissions move to the centre of corporate climate strategies, businesses are facing increasing regulatory scrutiny, rising customer expectations, and increasing reporting complexity. The Commitment establishes a structured, industry-led mechanism to help organisations move from ambition to coordinated delivery and make measurable progress across their supply chains. Every Commitment signatory commits to: * Reducing Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions. * Setting science-based targets aligned to 1.5°C. * Embedding sustainability into governance. * Integrating circular economy principles. * Engaging responsibly in policy development. * Collaborating to strengthen value chain alignment. Endorsed by some of the largest companies across key areas of the UK economy, the initiative reflects growing cross-sector momentum toward collaborative climate leadership. Yselkla Farmer, CEO, BEAMA says: "Supply chains sit at the heart of the Net Zero transition. With Scope 3 emissions now central to corporate climate strategies, collaboration across sectors has never been more important. "Achieving Net Zero and a circular economy is a shared responsibility - either we succeed together, or we don't succeed at all. Through the BEAMA 2050 Connected Climate Commitment, companies across the electrical supply chain for energy, transport and the built environment are coming together to move beyond ambition and deliver coordinated, real-world climate action. By working across the value chain, we can turn commitments into practical, scalable solutions that support decarbonisation, circularity and long-term industry resilience." Sustainability in the supply chain is key to achieving net zero. Ayah Alfawaris, head of group marketing & sustainability at Wilson Power Solutions, observed: "BEAMA's 2050 Climate Commitment is paramount to show an industry-wide consensus and direction towards Net Zero. Our products play a key role in electrification and decarbonisation, and this pledge marked the inception of cross-industry collaboration to ensure we all move steadily together towards a more sustainable future." In addition to the signatories, the BEAMA Climate Commitment is supported by many key organisations; including Connor Dalton; director of ESG, sustainability, and health & safety at CEF, noting: "We proudly endorse the BEAMA 2050 Connected Climate Commitment, which closely aligns with our own journey to net-zero based on the best available climate science. At CEF, we take pride in the progress we are making to reduce carbon emissions and climate impact across our estate and supply chain, and are therefore very pleased to support this important initiative. We look forward to working with BEAMA and its members to continue driving the net-zero agenda across the sector going forward." Steven Vallance; low carbon infrastructure manager, Scottish & Southern Electricity Networks, stated: "It is fantastic that BEAMA has reaffirmed their Climate Commitment. At SSEN Transmission, we know that supporting the wider energy transition and achieving our own carbon reduction targets is only possible with the help of our supply chain. Knowing that BEAMA 2050 Connected companies are on the same journey gives us confidence that together we can continue to deliver a network for net zero in a fair and sustainable way, doing the right thing for people and the planet."

The conversation soon illustrates that circular economy is highly relevant even though the concept is sometimes already excessively present. It is not an academic exercise, but rather based on economic processes that ultimately affect Zumtobel Group, as humanity, on its limited planet, calling to mind the EU's dependence of imports of rare earths. Its guests are Niclas-Alexander Mauß, co-founder of CIRCULAR REPUBLIC, and Marcus Frantz, Chief Digital Transformation Officer of the Zumtobel Group. Both help shape digital and sustainable change and give Zumtobel Group insights from two completely different perspectives, i.e. from the angle of a corporation and a start-up.
